I have an older machine with a Intel Seattle bx-2 Motherboard with a fried P3-500 processor (fan plug came off during a move). I am going to replace it with an P3-800 MHz. The newer bios for that mobo will support up to 850 but the current bios will only do 600 (100Mhz FSB). Question: When I install the processor will it just top out at the 600 until I can get the bios flashed or will it not work at all. Obiously I can't flash to the newer bios now because the machine is dead. Thank you!!!!
