Excellent. I've never understood people's preferences for laptops these days--huge screens, ultra fast processors, but no battery life. Then again, I guess I can understand if these are primary machines, and rarely come off of AC power. Ah, Vista. I have Vista Ultimate on my machine and I've been rather impressed by it.

Uh OH trouble in paradise
Woot I passed my Eye Exam, Hopefully DMV will now let me get my license!!!!!!

I've had my permit for the last eight years without going in for my license. I think it expired last year, but besides it being ID, I ride a bike or hop on the train everywhere.
I get in way too many accidents on the bike, which justifies never ever getting behind the wheel of a car. But boy does it ever hurt dragging home a case of beer down a bumpy blvd.

In the 1980-ies my wife and I worked at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. We lived in Rockville, MD, a short drive (10 minutes) from the NIH. Every day we drove to work, about 7 in the morning.
Well, my wife was a striking woman, blond long hair, slim, nice chest, striking figure ...
So we are sitting in line and waiting in the left lane for the red light to switch for a left turn. To the right of us a Cadillac with 4 young males in the early 20-ies, looking at my wife. The driver looked too, ad he was certainly much more occupied with the view than with watching the red light.
Our light switched to green and we started driving --- and so did the car to the right of us. He did not see that the car ahead of didn't move since those lanes still had red ...
That Caddy rearended not only the car in front of him but also two other cars, which he pushed ahead ...
We looked at each others, considered stopping, decided against it and drove off.
The morning after we read in the local newspaper about the accident, which involved a total of 5 cars, since the car behind the Cadillac also started driving and rearended the Caddy. Of course the car did not belong to the driver, he took it for a ride without getting his parents permission ...

I can't let this thread continue further without expressing once again my state of ignorance concerning its existence.
My preference for a laptop follows from a need for some portability. While I'd never want to give up my desktop with dual monitors and plenty of hard drives, I've got to admit that my laptop with its 2.3GHz Core 2 Duo is actually faster than my desktop with its Athlon X2 4400+ in stuff that doesn't involve much hard disk access. A laptop is also great for working (heh, that is a misnomer) on the couch, or in some rooms of the house where one traditionally does not have a computer (yeah, I mean the kitchen... of course!).Originally posted by: Fullmetal Chocobo

Vista is working out fairly well for me, though I only use it on my desktop with 4GB of RAM. My laptop, having more limited hard disk space and only 2GB of RAM, runs Mac OS X and Windows XP.
But despite that treatise on my opinions on mobile computing, I can assure you that I'm still ignoring this thread to the fullest extent possible.
