FMC, didn't you check out the place before you agreed to move in? Seems to me the cover for that electrical box is missing. A panel in that condition in a rental property in PA could not be rented until fixed. My father had to install hand rails on all of his stairs that didn't have them as well as railings around the front porch before he could sell his home. It just seems crazy that you could occupy a place in that condition.

Wow sounds like the houses for rent in arkansas (the average house). I hope things get better for you and liz, moving is no fun, but dealing with bs like this makes it tougher.🙁

Coquito, Sorry man, I have had a few guns in my face, none bothered me as much as the cop that stopped me after going thru a yellow light, he drew his gun before he got out of the car. Crazy ****** man. I asked him why he pulled his gun and he told me I was dangerous looking, I told him, its a traffic stop not even speeding, still makes me nervous now when I get pulled over or have a cop behind me.

4 more days till we open at the new location, I will be so glad to go back to cashiering after 3 weeks of cleaning, recieving, downloading pallets, loading pallets and playing janitor, maintainance etc... celebrating again with 18 cold Miller Genuine drafts should last me the weelkend lol

Back to Ignoring this thread again Whoops 🙂

I'm changing my will regarding the disposition of my remains.

I'm going to be cremated and have my ashes mixed in with Jill Hennesy's bath powder.

Will I need a permit for this?

... just see to the dispositions how the ashes will be processed to become just her bath powder and not e.g. a bath powder for dogs. 😀

It's Friday SOMEWHERE in the world, right?

After doing inventory, & remembering seeing a couple of officers playing with their flashlights, I haven't accounted for two cr123 batteries; so petty.

She'll be doing all the petting I think. 😉

Yes, we looked at the place first, and there were workers here working on the house. The stuff that we found, they said that they were working on. Evidently they took the rest of the time off after we left. We have already given them $1950 in move in costs, with another $350 of the pet deposit due on June 15th. That's $2250 total move in costs. I sent them a nice e-mail about it yesterday, and they had a guy out here for the ACs at 8:30 am in the next day, and they are coming by this morning at 10:00 am to do a walkthrough. The condition of the place should have been fixed, and I'm wondering how they are going to fix it now with us living here. 😕

I have no idea how they released a place in this condition for renting. Speaks volumes about the realty company though. PSA: Anyone in Austin area, don't deal with Centex Realty.

I hope they get things straightened out for you. While the wiring in the breaker panel does not look too bad, I would be concerned for the missing cover plate.

It looks to be a 200 Amp panel, though there is no main breaker. All of those breakers should be covered with a steel panel, usually a gray color that only lets the black portion of the breaker show through. Where there are no breakers installed, you would have a removable, twist off cover, that is of course, removed when you need to install a breaker in that spot.

It appears that the steel cover panel was removed to get the breaker panel to blend in. Then they fabricated the wooden, hinged door to blend into the wall and spray painted everything. In PA, you need to have a steel panel covering the bus bars for arc flash protection. I don't see how that panel box, with the missing cover, could comply with NEC code. Also, some of the wires are a little over-stripped.

I will be ignoring this thread all afternoon.
Today is going to be a tough day for me. I have to take some clients to the White Sox-Cubs game and get them drunk. Work can really be tough sometimes.

If I weren't officially ignoring this thead, I would feel very sorry for you and your terrible work conditions. 🙁

But I am officially ignoring this thread, so I won't feel very sorry for you. 😛

Hopefully they will fix everything for you.
How long is your lease?

1 year. The present condition is enough to break the lease I'm sure, but the simple fact remains that we need somewhere to live.

I hope the landlord fixes your house soon - this situation really looks frustrating. 🙁
Just hang in there!

Thanks. I'm trying to. I'm just really starting to get worried. I have disability for a skin condition and insomnia. With me sweating this much with the AC off, it's going to aggrevate my skin condition, and I won't be able to sleep in this heat, and I work nights, so I'll be sleeping in the hottest part of the day.

Today is the end of the day on Friday, and we didn't hear anything, and I severly doubt that anything is going to happen this weekend, and we move in here on Sunday. So we will definitely be living here with no one else to go (read: escape to) for at the very least a few days, and who knows what the longest time frame is. The worst part is that we can't just open the windows and use natural ventilation--we are on a wooded hill, and the windows face east & west, so there is no breeze. Not to mention we can't open any of the front windows, so we'd have to open the door, and none of the other windows albeit one has screens.

:|

Atleast when we move here, I won't have to drive back and forth anymore, so I can have a  finally. 🙂
