I also use Lightroom, it works well with Raw files. Almost everything I do is with Lightroom and then I'll move it over to photoshop for final adjustments.

This past week has been the first time that I really put Lightroom to the test. It works quite well for a v1.0 product, but Adobe really needs to work on the performance aspects. LR is slow at flipping through photos at fit-to-screen size in the "loupe view" (and forget about trying to flip through anything at 100%). It's slow on my 2.33GHz Core 2 Duo laptop, and certainly not any faster on my Athlon X2 4400+ desktop (2GB and 4GB of RAM, respectively). I'm definitely pleased enough with the software, however, to invest a significant amount of time importing and organizing my images within it (of course, it also helps that LR uses an open XMP format instead of a proprietary one like Aperture uses).

I think lightroom scales very well with speed, its pretty snappy on my 3.4GHz/4GB ram machine but completely unusable on a friends 2.4 P4. At the same time, I've noticed it does take a while to scroll through pictures at full quality, irritating but I think understandable considering the size of the img files it has to display on the monitor.

And why am I ignoring this? I think this thread is depressed, it deserves a break after 108 pages of being ignored, how would you feel in its shoes?

There's definitely much room for improvement. Other programs can manage 10MP raw files at screen resolution much more quickly, so I'm confident that Adobe can put a bit more intelligence into LR's caching process and make it usable for fast paced culling sessions. The next update will hopefully have bring some improvements in that area, as well as in the annoyingly slow-to-update thumbnails while scrolling.

Ugh, what a nightmare today has been. We got our keys for the new place that we are moving into, and there is a huge list of stuff wrong with it. Both ACs do not work (there is on AC for upstairs and another one for downstairs), one having electrical wiring exposed (copper, not insulated). One toilet completely does not work (no water to it despite opening & closing the valve). The paint job is atrocious with paint spatter literally everywhere. Any electric load plugged in makes this smoke detector chirp, which is frightening. I checked the voltage at the house, and it's running at 125.4 volts. Oh, and the fire extinguisher in the AC closet with the exposed wiring is a dry chemical extinguisher that isn't filled properly.

Oh, and to make matters all the worse, my oh so wonderful roommate switched the internet over to the new house (the one without ACs) today, despite me saying on the ride over there that internet is going to be the last thing that you want to change over. UGH. And my mother-in-law is in town helping us move, so I can't have any . 🙁

So we have no internets (unless I bring the laptop over to the new house, which I am doing now), so we won't be posting / ignoring this thread, and stats will be delayed for a while. Also, our machines have run out of crunchables as well. 🙁² Yeehah.

Hopefully see ya'll soon.

I think there needs to be a distributed computing project to perform medical research specifically for senior citizens.

This should be called: OldFolks@Home.

WOW! Hopefully you get it all resolved soon. Summer in TX is no place to be without AC I would think.

This is something that I just have to get fixed as well. The "hole" in the breaker box is large enough for me to fit my hand in. So if I'm turning off a breaker, and my hand slips, it could go right into the hot and neutral bar, and that isn't good. Then there is the fact that absolutely nothing is labeled. :| Pics of said breaker box

 What happened?

Police raided my home. Apparently we're running a massive drug cartel.

Ooh yes, it's warming up around here as well. In the 80s, with just enough humidity for it not to rain. :|

 O RLY? Wow.... That's crazy. I think they took the term "crack rack" a little bit literal.

I was trying to ignore this thread...
FMC, did you get an inspection on the house before you moved in?

Coquito....yea, a gun in the face would be difficult to ignore.

I think I'm already participating in that program! 😉

Yikes! :Q Lucky they didn't shoot first and ask questions later. Since you are posting, I take it things were resolved quickly and without incident. Did they get the wrong house? (wouldn't be the first time)

Back to officially ignoring this thread....

The app will be called Blinker. Hopes to find a cure for the left turn signal blinking for hundreds of miles. 😎

Nice, I just found out my wife accepted a position at a new company (we work(ed)) together. Back to driving my own car into work now.
So much for us both getting a 3 week sabattical next year. I guess I'll go on a 3 week trip without her.....(still have to use 18 vacation days as well).

Lots of  and :wine: tonight.

So sad: Coquito gets a gun in his face, Uppsala9496's wife gets a different (I hope better) job and he has to vacation alone, FMC has no crunchers running ... what is going on? 🙁

But on a more positive note: I came home after a over-day trip and found my home standing, the kids happy, all cats alive and fed and no problems ... 😀
The car did not break down, I did not see any accidents, I did not get stopped by the police, I purchased a lot of goods and got a healthy discount, and the weather turned from windy and rainy to less windy with some really good sun shine. :sun:

Also all my seti-WUs, which were awaiting upload, were uploaded during the day. And they were reported too. So tiomorrow I will have a healthy boost in my seti-stats. 😀
