Seems like you've already contracted Ebola. It's affecting your judgement. D:

yeah i know, it's stupid 🙁

i should probably just get a cheap windows laptop for 400$-500$ and be done with it. if i invested the 1000$ saved and got %4 real return, it would be worth 3200$ real in 30 years.

Just buy it already. FYI, Yosemite is awesome. Almost 5 years of my 2009 MBP being on steady without any major issues. I did add a SSD about a year ago, but it has held up amazingly. Apple trackpads are the best without a doubt. Gestures are great once you get used to them and I've pretty much never used or needed a mouse with it.

No. But, did you look at the Surface Pro 3? It's brand new, and for much less... Just saying.

Got to mess with my sister's 13 inch retina pro. She had a Dell studio laptop before that and it was a dog. Would freeze all the time, wouldn't sleep, had parts replaced, etc.

She's much happier with the MacBook and the thing is damn stylish. She has the 128gb model and it's also very fast. I'm mad it doesn't have the same password as the Dell when I'm over there so I can't mess around with it to see how much more I like it.

In my desktop I have a ssd running mavericks right now. In my spare time I figure I could try to learn ios development so I'm also debating buying one.

I was thinking of just going with the vanilla 2012 model so I can swap out memory and hd. But the retina is lighter and has the new processors and better screen. Keep in mind you would also need Apple care plan on the retinas in case something goes wrong. So that's something else holding me off just yet.

I think my father bought my sister the protection plan from best buy for 2 years so even if she drops it, something goes wrong, ruins it she will get it repaired or replaced. Not sure if that is different than Apple care.

Sorry this was suppose to not convince you but I've been trying to not buy one myself.

I guess it's a good thing I need a new set of tires and preorders for the nexus 6 start next week.

they are super overpriced and i know its stupid to buy one, but dang it, i want one. 15" macbook pro looks sweet.

first world problems amirite?

1. Built like a tank
2. Can run whatever OS on it (Mac natively, Windows using Boot Camp, or Linux using rEFind)
3. Has a third-party docking station available now:

Expensive, but cool. Running Windows in VMware on a Mac is my favorite way to run Windows - snapshots, fast zero-hardware boots, quick cloning for testing different software, etc.

Don't buy it bro. It's proven you'll grow a vagina within 6 months of buying an apple product

I'm really liking OS X Yosemite. It is a solid improvement over the previous version. I'd say it is better on the macbook than iOS7 was for the iPhone.

Before the update, I found myself ignoring the Macbook for weeks at a time.

Reason not to get a macbook is...well they are kind of expensive. They won't run Windows programs as easily. I find that I can do serious stuff more with my Windows 8 machine, I'm talking like video or audio converting. It takes a lot more work to find a similar setup for the macbook, not really worth the effort.

Honestly, the only real reason IMO to get a macbook is if you want to write iOS programs on Xcode.

go ahead and get it. It uses x-86 hardware under the hood. If you get tired of OS-? (Oh Shit) you can always load windows on it.

Well one caveat is Windows doesn't support Retina properly unless you are running Parallels or Fusion AFAIK.

Yep. Windows 8.1 is better in that aspect, but still you have to run in native resolution. And some apps look blurry with scaling. You can't run on half resolution and have full clarity like you have on osx.
