Im going crazy! Im about to buy everything right now and I need your guys's confirmation on these parts. Im paranoid about running into compatability issues are issues at all when I build my rig so I won't buy anything until I know for sure that everythign will work fine. So how are these parts? Once I get the ok from you guys Im going to buy it. SO a quick yes or no will be good enough.

On a side note. Is there a better mobo in the near feature or currently than the DS3 at a similar price point? Its performance for overclocking will be important. And I won't be doing SLi or Corssfire.

If you guys see a way to improve performance please let me know.

dont you want a hard drive?! I would say grab a seagate perpendiculuar 7200.10 RPM for about 100$ (320gig).
 
Awsome! Oh and by the way ViviTheMage I am already buying that exact hard drive. I just didnt post it because I knew it would be compatabile. Thanks guys. So the DS3 is my best option for a ~150 overclocking mobo?
 
I would avoid Antec PSU at all costs.

Been bitten by the bad caps thing twice now.

Not sure if that PSU suffers from the bad caps problem but I wouldn't take the chance.

I did too until 4 months ago.

There is actually another thread on the front page about dead Antecs.

I would go with Seasonic. They have been proven reliable and are about the same price.
 
Seasonics are one of the quietest psu you can get too. I have the S12 600w model and its pretty darn quiet.
 
I highly recommend the Enermax Liberty 500W PSU. I own one & about to buy another & it works great.

Just curious, why the DDR2-667 RAM vs. DDR2-800?

I'm about to install a 7200.10 (250) myself.

The rest looks good.

 
I am about to get almost that exact configuration. I agree, go with a different brand like the Enermax djnsmith7 recommended. He spins the wheels of steels and is on the 1's and 2's. He knows what he's talking about.
 
Thanks a lot guys for the help. This is why the AT forums are the best. Thanks djnsmith7 for the recommendation. I had no idea that antec PSUs were bad and faulty. BTW I decided on the PSU that djnsmith7 recommended. My only question is. Will this PSU be powerful enough for future hardware? SLi? Crossfire? It's an expensive PSU and I don't want to have to buy another one in a few years just because of low wattage. Should I spend the extra money on the 620W version?
 
Supposedly the DirectX10 cards are going to be power hogs if you believe the rumors. One rule of thumb is that after you figure in all your wattage needs for the entire system add 25% more wattage for future growth. So lets say your rig and all its components need 400w psu. Using the 25% rule you should get a 500w for future upgrades (25% of 400w = 100w; 400w + 100w = 500w).
 
Get rid of the Antec PSU, down to a 6300 Core 2 Duo, Up the Ram to ddr2-800, and OC the machine. That should be it!
 
I also agree with the enermax suggestion. I've had a different model (than the one suggested) for about a year, and couldn't be happier.

Not trying to steal your thread, but how did you decide on that heatsink and why? I'm curious because I'd like to upgrade as well.
 
i just heard really great things about the thermaltake typhoon. And the Zalman competitor is kinda over prived compared to the typhoon, plus its louder.
 
Your right, the thermaltake is a better deal. I did some looking around, and the thermaltake has better performance than the zalman for less money. Sounds like a no-brainer to me.

Thermaltakes dBA specs are flat out lies; the Zalman will almost certainly be quieter. The Zalman is a bit on the expensive side however so if you want something more economical check out the Thermalright Ultra-90, and 120. I wouldn?t use a Thermaltake HS/F if you gave it to me.

The Zalman fan in the 9500 is actually quite loud, spinning 2600RPM at 12V. At 12V the Typhoon's fan spins at 1300RPM. I don't see any reason why TT would lie about the fan speed.

I was bitten by Antec bad caps thing last week. that does it for me buying antec anymore considering so many other ppl have problems too. ALso, that that fvked up my mobo or some other component that now my computer just restarts randomly.

anything buy antec. i am trying out a thermaltake purepower. not one of the best, but got it cheap enough. (~30 after rebates) 500W. wouldnt recommend for you though 😛

go with a seasonic as ppl say, or enermax or fsp

At that price, you should've gone for an Ultra X-Finity.
 
A little update, I took your guys's advice on the PSU and went with the Enermax Liberty 620W. It's expensive but after hearing what has happened to people with Antecs and cheap PSUs I think it will be worth it in the long run. Thanks guys for the help.

The 1300 fan RPM spec obvously isn't a lie as anyone can easily verify it themselves, the lie is the 16 dBA sound level. Unless you live in deep space or a really good anocoic chamer 16 dBA might as well be 0 dBA.

The Zalman is one of the best low noise heatinks there is; read here and here.
