The biggest complaint I have seen about the Zalman and from my own experiences(I have the 9500 AT), is that its $50-some (low 50s). Some consider that pricey. Personally, I dont but thats just me. I'm not against paying $50 for a hsf that'll allow me to OC really well. Its a quiet fan too. Dunno what the fuss is about. If you look at all the legit reviews the Zalman is right up there with the best inperformance and sound. Not saying its the best but if it isnt its pretty darn close IMO. Some of the newer hsf are heavier and have a taller profile which concerns me and the possible torque it can put on the mobo. Also it'll sound funny to many but I like how the 9500 looks so thats a plus to me but a small plus really and only a personal one. Looks is subjective and everyone has a different opinion on what looks good.
So I would say if size isnt a concern then go with what your wallet can afford. You'll be fine either way in the end I'm thinking. Assuming it'll fit on the mobo you chosen. All the top end hsf are basically within a 1C or 2c of each other anyway.
Just adding my two coppers to the debate.
