Up and running, install went fine. Rather than wait on a slow download I grabbed the update from the PS3 site and installed it from an SD card. I haven't tried it with any disc games but the in-game XMB was fine with Pain. I like the date/time display. That will end up being a useful addition to me.

Does anyone know if the rumored feature of allowing multiple IDs to be signed in made it to 2.4?

I guess it's finally time for all the Sony fanboys who have shit on achievements the past 2 1/2 years to finally get hooked on trophies.

I just wish they put the new rumble controller as an item to buy via the sony reward points area. Still have mine waiting since I bought the PS3.

Ya, you can purchase anything from their store as a silver member. They aren't going to refuse your money, that'd be stupid. :) The only advantages to being a paid gold subscriber is being able to play games online (the big obvious one), and getting demos a week earlier than everyone else. I believe only gold members can send voice messages and the like, but I'm not 100% on that, since I haven't really looked into it as of late.

I installed with no problems around 3:30 this afternoon, already racked up 8 trophies in SSHD :p. So far, I really like the trophy system a lot better than 360 achievements. It has depth to it, with levels of difficulty. As long as the developers are pretty fair in what they deem easy, medium, and hard trophies, then I'll like it. However, I think the overall level system is stupid and not needed.

Could you clarify "overall level system" versus "levels of difficulty"? It sounds like they're 2 different things (since you have 2 seemingly different opinions)

The first part of the trophy system is getting the actual trophies themselves. There's bronze, silver, gold, and platinum. Bronze trophies are the easiest to get, for example, completing a level or doing something you probably would've done anyway. Silver trophies are a bit harder, you'll have to probably go out of your way to do it, but it should be a fun challenge. Gold trophies should be pretty hard to get, you'll need some decent skill to get these. Then you get a platinum trophy if you can manage to get all of the trophies available in a single game (I think the smaller downloadable titles like SSHD aren't eligible for a platinum trophy since they have a small number of trophies to earn, but I could be wrong on this).

Now, those trophies aside, Sony has also put in a simple gamer level score. Each level of trophy is worth a certain amount of points, and it basically adds to your level. It's the same thing as getting experience and leveling up like in Warcraft of Warcraft or an RPG or something.

So you have the trophies that are totaled, then you have an overall level that is totaled, so you can compare your trophies earned plus your overall level against your friends.

Xbox 360 Features: Gold Vs. Silver. :)

Heh, what a list:

All the Silver level benefits PLUS:
- Great online multiplayer gameplay.
- Xbox Live Marketplace: Get both exclusive and early access content.
- Revolutionary TrueSkill? matchmaking.
- Enhanced gamer feedback.
- Enhanced friends list management.

One is the multiplayer gameplay. #3 and 4 wouldn't be necessary without having multiplayer gameplay, so those basically are there just to fill the list and nothing more. And I have no idea what "enhanced" friend management means. :)
