Playing with raging 12-year olds

Destructoid - Heh. Click through. It's a fun read.

I am a man of peace. In real life, I treat my fellow man with respect and I try to at least get along with people I see every day. I don't like to seek out conflict and I often try to find a solution that suits everyone when faced with a problem. I try to take this attitude to the gaming world. When I play a game, I want to have fun and when I play online multiplayer games, I want to still enjoy myself. I mean, playing with others is more fun right?

Wrong. There is an epidemic spreading across the gaming realm. A plague so devious, that no one really saw it coming. With the education system falling into ruins, parents overworking and a general social break down on discipline, a new foe threatens gamers world wide. There is no reasoning with this new threat, it does not think, it only reacts. All attempts to diplomatically deal with these devious devils has been met with failure and debilitating frustration. The only way to rid yourself of this heinous enemy is to destroy it completely. You all know of whom I speak o f...

12-year-olds.

so very true sadly.

They need to implement some sort of screening process for mic's. If you have a shrill voice and constantly call people "f'n faggets" you should not be allowed to have a mic.

My biggest problem is with the racial epithets, I get real tired of hearing teenage white boyz calling people n*****'s all the time.

But what can you really do? Parents don't care about the ratings system, so even if you're sticking to M titles, you're still going to be dealing with more than your fair share of twits.

On the 360 for the ones hurling racial epithets; Mute them, give them negative feedback, and submit a complaint all from their gamertag.

I don't believe the PS3 has a similar system.

I can't stand the ADD high pitched humming. They sound like some idiot savant in a corner.

"oh! Boom!"
"hmmm, mmm, humm, mmm"
"Boom!"
*high pitched squeal and giggle*

Exactly. I only play pc games online but I find a good server, with good people and stick with it. Never encounter shit like this.

Yup, if you truly want to play a game for it's online aspect, play it on PC and find decently admin'd servers that don't let the "12 year olds" run amok. Problem solved.

Or just mute em 😉

That's why you play with friends and not random 12 year olds.

I don't have any friends that are into gaming. I did have one friend that was, but he died last year. So it's either game online with the 12 year olds or not game online, so I pick the latter.

When I'm playing a random pub match on W@W, I just leave my headset plugged in, muted and off my head, so I don't have to listen to it. Let them yell and be stupid, and be that way in the real world - and point and laugh when the real world bitch slaps them.

use party mode for xbox360, even when not in a party. You may not hear your team, but its better than dealing with the little shits. I usually end up playing most games with 1-3 friends, I'd rather just talk to them

Reminds me of when I was playing WoW and this kid in a high pitched voice kept randomly singing Final Countdown into his mic ~_~.

lol, that is funny.

This is why I disable voice chat in any game that supports it. I'm aware that theoretically it might be used for planning and strategy that might add depth to online gameplay.. I've just yet to see that happen in practice.

I assume it happens in like professional gaming leagues or something but in my casual gamer experience, voice chat only detracts from the gameplay.. it adds nothing but headaches and annoyance.

this is kinda the reason im pretty much done console gaming, you get the people who are less than serious to the point that there purposely trying to annoy others

This issue is thankfully much less common on the PC since usually 12 year olds aren't going to know or bother to know how to build and maintain a gaming rig.

You're totally wrong. Parents are more likely to buy their 12 year olds a computer in hopes of them learning than buy a game console so they can play games.

So hook up with some AT console gamers. Everyone I've played with has been a lot of fun, helpful and respectful. Or try to get a console gaming group together.

The singers are the worst.

I dunno what it is about me, but I just cant help myself. I HAVE to tell them to STFU. I cant let it slide, I cant just mute them, they need to know, from me, that they are to shut the f*ck up immediately. I know it never works. I know it only encourages them. I think I need help. 😛

There are 100's of members gamer tags listed here, why not PM a few about adding them to your friends list?
