It's scary sure.. but it isn't going to make you do that. Maybe a slight jump, but that's all you'd get out of me. Not blood curdling screams and a million "fuck offs"
(And yes, Bioshock was better in my opinion.)
Hah which reminds me, a friend of mine, who works in the oilfield (aren't they suppose to be tough guys?) Gave away his copy of FEAR because he said it was too scary hahaha
I dunno, Bioshock and FEAR were two vastly different games in terms of atmosphere.
FEAR really sold the shock and awe aspect, especially at its time of release (and I think it still manages that), while as Bioshock just went to the lengths of making it feel exactly like you think it would from the time and story, and how real it feels just amps up the terror factor.
Bioshock makes me feel on edge the entire time, versus FEAR I would just go through with not much edge but always expecting more or less the same scare tactic, and it always worked so I'd kind of think 'alright fuck this bastard'.. I didn't boldly yell fuck off and shut up, lol... but I definitely thought it in my head, I think deep down I was angry that the damn scare tactics always worked... you know, something just coming through the floor out of nowhere, alma and her 'sometimes when you turn the corner, I'll just STARE at you, sometimes I'll approach you, and you don't know what to do.. do you?! Do you shoot me? Does it work? Do you run? I'll get you!' antics. Damn bitch and her creepy ghoulies. I hated the damned ninja freaks the most.
I gotta get back to Bioshock. I kind of miss its authentic antique world... the story is also what sells it... it just feels dripping in realness even though its typical sci-fi.
Think I'll play it tonight.
