that's probably what I'm like playing those games. It's a love/hate thing. I love playing them cuz they creep me out and I get pissed at whatever makes my heart skip a beat when they do something creepy/unexpected.
Movies don't do jack shit for me as far as making me jump a lot, but games, it's completely different. heh

"Shut up" no.. you shut up. This guy annoys me. He's also a pansy that talks too much.

I thought Bioshock was vastly superior to FEAR.

I haven't played FEAR. Is it really that scary, or is that guy just a puss?

It's scary sure.. but it isn't going to make you do that. Maybe a slight jump, but that's all you'd get out of me. Not blood curdling screams and a million "fuck offs"

(And yes, Bioshock was better in my opinion.)

Hah which reminds me, a friend of mine, who works in the oilfield (aren't they suppose to be tough guys?) Gave away his copy of FEAR because he said it was too scary hahaha

I dunno, Bioshock and FEAR were two vastly different games in terms of atmosphere.
FEAR really sold the shock and awe aspect, especially at its time of release (and I think it still manages that), while as Bioshock just went to the lengths of making it feel exactly like you think it would from the time and story, and how real it feels just amps up the terror factor.
Bioshock makes me feel on edge the entire time, versus FEAR I would just go through with not much edge but always expecting more or less the same scare tactic, and it always worked so I'd kind of think 'alright fuck this bastard'.. I didn't boldly yell fuck off and shut up, lol... but I definitely thought it in my head, I think deep down I was angry that the damn scare tactics always worked... you know, something just coming through the floor out of nowhere, alma and her 'sometimes when you turn the corner, I'll just STARE at you, sometimes I'll approach you, and you don't know what to do.. do you?! Do you shoot me? Does it work? Do you run? I'll get you!' antics. Damn bitch and her creepy ghoulies. I hated the damned ninja freaks the most.

I gotta get back to Bioshock. I kind of miss its authentic antique world... the story is also what sells it... it just feels dripping in realness even though its typical sci-fi.
Think I'll play it tonight. :D

FEAR had its scary parts. Ravenholm (HL2), now that's scary.
STALKER was spooky at times as well.

The problem with Bioshock, although it is pretty scary, is essentially incredibly non-scary when you realize you can use your wrench and beat enemies to death as long as you don't mind endlessly running back from a vita-chamber...

Of course.. if you want the Brass Balls achievement...... :D

FEAR had potential and it still does. Just needs more variety and less repetition. Story needs to get fleshed out a little. Player needs to be rewarded with important cutscenes and dialogue.

The only time I jump playing a game is in an FPS, when someone is suddenly 1 inch from my face after walking around a corner or opening a door. Then I have the ARGH! throw the mouse in the air clusterfuck freakout.

Doom 3 took to many cues from generic horror movies, by using staged encounters of enemies popping out of walls in front of you, or magically appearing behind you even though you cleared everything behind you, and etc etc etc. Too many generic shock moments. Although it too freaked me out on basically every occasion. It's just not something I'd rate highly because of it. A game managing to scare me at times doesn't mean its good. :p

yep. turn the corner, and it's like AHHH WTF you doing their mate?! I tend to spam mass amounts of ammo into his general direction hoping I get him before he gets me. lol

FEAR never scared me. Silent Hill is still the scare king.

Yeah. Especially when I'm drunk.

Use to talk shit a lot more when I was younger though lol
Usually involves a lot of cussing and trash talking to a monster or something like that

Here's to hoping SH5 is kickass. They seem to be drawing some visual elements from the movie, which also kicked ass as it really kept the Silent Hill atmosphere there.
Every time I hear the tornado sirens test, I immediately recall the Silent Hill movie.
<-- never played the Silent Hill games. Too chicken when I was young and now there are too many new games to catch up on that I never return to the classics that I want to play. Well, rented one of them about 8 years back(?), and hated not having a weapon at the beginning and gave up quickly. Freaked me out being defenseless and not knowing what would happen next because the atmosphere was thick and creepy too. lol Then again, if it was 8 years ago, I was somewhere around 12... was easily creeped then.

No, but I do talk to the characters in the game sometimes. Mainly I just yell at them, sometimes they yell back, depends on how many beers I've had.
