The latency setting shouldn't matter if the connection of each player is decent. It should run lagless for everyone unless someone '5ux0rz' or has a laggy comp that slows down when you have 50 billion pylons on the screen. But seriously, if you play a LAN game you'll notice that it's lagless regardless of the latency setting. Just play with people who have good connections.Originally posted by: Legendary
I believe if everyone has broadband, extra high latency is faster. For low-bandwidth players, low latency is faster. Extra high sends more packets, so if a low-bandwidth person plays on extra high, his connection lags everyone.

Extra high latency isn't for people with faster speed modems...people set extra high latency when it lags becuase it allows people to hae more lag. It sacrifices individual unit control so that people don't lag out. For example, in war2, if theres low latency you'll see people's waiting for players thing more...in other words its not as forgiving for people with lag...but you can pull peons from gold and stop them. If its no extra high latency, you have no control over your peons on gold, you can't pull them off, but people are less likely to lag out...you can tell the games slightly slower though.

what thalanx said...thats good
its peer to peer once the game starts...bne just matches you up w/ your oponents and makes sure you can d/l the map...
I've lost connection to bnet tons of times while playing and the game continues
