So I guess my post will sound more of a rant, but there's just no way to sugar coat it. I used to think democrats were ok, but more and more I am starting to see that this is not the case.

Please, someone tell me this. How are people supposed to live without plastic bags? I come from Soviet Union and I know what it's like to live without many of the conveniences people have in United States. (Let me give you a hint... *It's not very convenient*)

You know what we used to do in good ol' USSR? We used to carry our garbage in metal/plastic buckets outside and throw it out, all by ourselves. That's right! Down the elevator we would travel, from whatever floor we lived on, then a 10 minute walk outside to the garbage containers, and then empty those buckets, walk all the way back, and up the elevator back home. Any weather, rain or snow. Oh, and then we had to wash said buckets, otherwise they would stink like crazy. In America, we have something called "FREE plastic bags" which we use to line our garbage cans, which makes it easy and convenient to toss our garbage down the garbage compactor available in every apartment building. That's what civilized people do.

Now the dems would have us, PAY for paper bags, or live like good Soviet citizens.

And then, the groceries... Myself and my comarades back in the early 90's used to carry our groceries in these "net baggies". Literally, it's a bag, made out of a net. If it tore, you had to patch it up, or buy a new one. The dems would have me go back to that here in US. Nice!

Look. I get it. Environmental impact and all that. But then, go after those who litter. Catch these people. Fine them like crazy for littering! Arrest them if you have to. Even jail them for all I care. But it's not the bags that's the problem. It's the people who use them. I NEVER, even once in my life threw out a bag in the street, and certainly not in the ocean or at the beach.

It seems like the longer Governor Cuomo is in power, the worse life gets for New Yorkers. There's just no end in sight to this madness. Whats next? Are we going to have to give up plastic bottles because it's not "environmentally friendly"? And then what? Watch TV less because we are wasting power?

plastic bags should be banned across the entire country, just as they are banned or historically barely used in other advanced nations. LoL--most of Europe has always had a bring your own or pay-per-plastic policy. No reason to riot over a preposterously well-tested, easily-acceptable policy

If you can't be bothered to bring your own bag when you go shopping, then fuck off until you're ready to join civilization.

Please let this be a parody post. I genuinely hope nobody is this stupid.

As an NYC resident this plastic bag ban is amazing. I am 110% in favor of it. NYC is an incredibly dirty city and those fucking plastic bags are all over the ground, all the time.

lol, I do find it hilarious that you kept denying, in nearly all of your posts now, that you weren't a Russian, in response to your bizarre Putin-defending, conspiracy laden nonsense posting...but here you are just openly admitting it.

Good job.

They are a goddamn nuisance and needed to be banned a long time ago.

People also throw these in recycling bins (not supposed to) and it creates lots of problems.

Go reusable or paper or GTFO.

Did you miss that the city passed these out for FREE??

Have you heard of this thing called reusable shopping bags?

Or the old rolling shopping cart, You know the type that helps you when you buy 4 watermelons and don't wanna break your back?

or Shopping Carts with wheels

Or you're still too blind by what you read in Pravda?

If OP is serious, please go play with a bag on your head kid. Hoping it's just a satire attempt.

Been using reuseables bags for years with no problems. If you take issue with this kind of news, chances are you're a lazy, quite partisan asshole. Too bad the environment has to pay for your hate of Cuomo (someone I can't stand either for the record).

How hard is it

Of COURSE it's the bags that are problematic.
It doesn't matter if you never threw a plastic bag on the street or ocean or wherever. Do you store every plastic bag you have ever used in your house or something?

Assuming you do actually throw out a bag or two, where do you think they end up? Landfill likely assuming they are not recycled....so YOU are contributing to the problem just as much as anyone who litters.

How hard is it to use a reusable bag really...?

The only one problem is it requires the proprietor of the store to keep track of the $$ collected for bags sold. I talked to a local sub shop owned when it first came online and he complained about it but now its all second nature he says

They banned the disposable plastic bags in my city for about 6 months in 2015 (before a coalition of Republicans got it tossed out in court) and during that time I got a collection or reusable bags (most the stores gave to me for free) that I still use today. I rarely ever use the plastic disposable bags. It is not a hardship, at all.

The only way they get recycled is if you take them to a specialty recycle bin, you often see them at the front of stores. All other recycling facilities throw them in the trash because they are more trouble to recycle then they are worth since it can't be done with the automated equipment they use.

If plastic bags are outlawed, only outlaws will have plastic bags.

I'll work on a 3-d printable bag design that can be freely downloaded so plastic bag aficionados can stick it to the man.

I like how he thinks that because he didn't throw it into the street or ocean, that it still didn't end up there, anyway. what a maroon.
