Pizza ideas

Wife wants pizza for dinner tomorrow. I'll be making 2 or 3 different dough styles so my wife and daughter can make their own pizzas and shape them into stupid hearts if they want.

I'm a little bored with regular pizzas. What are some good toppings to make something different? BBQ chicken will get made. Smoked salmon maybe?

If I had any leftover brisket I would use that since that makes for a phenomenal topping.

Thin, crispy crust, BBQ sauce, chicken, jalapenos and some green onions make for a nice changeup from traditional toppings.

Get jar of tiki marsala sauce, fresh cilantro, Indian spices (baharat is good, though technically Middle Eastern), chicken breast, roma tomatoes, red onion, baby bella mushrooms, carrot shreds, carrot shreds, and soft goat cheese. Purchase or make your own naan.

It's a pizza. I'm sure you can figure out what to do with those ingredients. Dice the chicken and cook in some EVOO and toss in the Indian spices. Slice shrooms and cook in EVOO and pepper, toss in sliced onion near the end to soften. Don't cover the entire pizza in goat cheese, just cut 1/4" thick slices and place on top of the sauce. Fresh cilantro springs go on top when pizza is done cooking at 425F for 10-14 minutes.

I do a tex-mex pizza. Mix ground beef or chicken with salsa, peppers, onions and spices, cheddar and Monterrey Jack cheese.

One of my favorites is very simple:

1. Grilled chicken (cubed)
2. Green peppers (sliced lengthwise, and then in half)
3. Pineapple chunks (thumbnail-sized wedges, you can get them in a can if you want)

Optionally top with red pepper flakes if you like a bit of heat. It sounds like an awfully weird combination, but it has the PB&J effect - goes together really well. Use regular dough, sauce, and cheese. Extremely satisfying combination of flavors

Butter chicken on naan would be a good pizza.

I was thinking about making a garlic butter shrimp pizza. Adding some bacon and maybe mushrooms. Seems like everything would compliment each other nicely.

A food truck in town does a bacon and scallop pizza on some sort of a garlic sauce. It sounded delicious...and must have been because it was always sold out.

🙁

Yesterday I saw Chef Rick Bayless make a Tomatillo salsa, chorizo and goat cheese topped pizza that he said was his family's favorite. I've never tried it myself yet so I have no personal opinions on it's flavor but it looked like something I might want to try someday. The tomatillo salsa was made by roasting tomatillos, and I think poblano peppers under a broiler, then he put chopped yellow onion into the salsa along with some other ingredients but I can't remember any more details, I'm sure the recipe is probably available online somewhere.

My favorite toppings that I've personally had and made myself so far are basil, tomato sauce, goya chorizos thinly sliced and asiago cheese. Heavy on the basil.

I make one with feta cheese, chopped green onion, chopped jalapeno, olive oil for sauce and chopped roma tomatos. It is simple but yummy!

I have some dough resting now for tonight. I'm afraid I'll be boring. Caramelized onions, red bell pepper, garlic and pepperoni with mozzarella. I'll make a calzone for my son.

I use this calculator when making my dough and it comes out well. The parent site is pretty good too.

korean bbq
egg pizza

This gives me an idea. One of my favorite foods are chinese egg rolls. So chinese egg roll pizza. Pork, cherry teriyaki, napa cabbage, scallions, soy sauce, fresh ginger, I know I'm forgetting something so I'd have to look up a recipe to remind myself of what I'm forgetting. Not sure if that would work as a pizza as well as it works in an egg roll though.

BBQ baby back rib pizza or BBQ chicken pizza sound good though.

None of these choices sound very conducive to after dinner nookieD:

How about tomato, rosemary and mint with mozzarella cheese...haven't tried it myself but I've heard it is pretty tasty

There's a favorite combo that my friends and I call "jalapeppefeta": jalapeños, pepperoni and feta cheese. Awesome.

A local pizza joint uses cream cheese as one of their toppings. I was skeptical before trying it, but it really works well in certain combos. I'm not sure, but I'm guessing they put it on either after or near the end of the bake. Here's their menu:

I'll second the scallops & bacon in a garlic sauce. Toss in some shrimp too, and some sliced sun-dried tomatoes for the tanginess.

You want crazy pizza, go to Japan.

From hot dogs and mayo, to squid ink and sweet potato...
You can get a pizza with anything and everything.

How about pickle and grape pizza? Bologna and honey? Or lamb and cherry pie? Spaghetti and peanut butter?

Yes you can even get ash on your pizza, on purpose.

Incorporate garlic, feta cheese, or pineapple.

This is what we do - minus the onions. Thin crust, minimal cheese and toppings.

Add a couple small spots of smoked mozzarella ... oh man.
