*sigh* some ppl just like to argue. whatever.

I'm over it ;)

seriously though some people are like that. in fact i used to be like that until i realized how annoying it is to other people to argue over every little pointless thing.

If you were like that, then shouldn't you be the last person to tell people how to behave? Isn't that hypocritical? It's like an ex-prostitute telling kids to be abstinent.

Ah, then we have something in common. I comment on people's intellect.

EDIT: or lack of that is.

Overall, education and income definitely have a higher correlation than money saved(invested) and income.

Yeah - I used to be a terrible tipper until I moved in w/ my former housemates, who all happened to work in the service industry as waiters. You get a feel of how much they make off tips and then understand the rationale behind a good tip. Pizza industry is one thing b/c the delivery person pockets it all so a $2 seems fine. But for restaurants, the tip is split many ways as the waiter, waitress has to tip out the kitchen, pantry, and the busers.

My dad is also a professor and most of them do not make "A LOT" of money.
It depends on the school you work at, but most professor's with PhD's start somewhere between 40 and 50K. After 10 years or more, they may get tenured and may move up the salary scale, but very very few professors make more than 100K, so I would not consider them wealthy. I just got out of college and I make 50K as a software developer. And the salary range for my position goes to 75K. And I've only got a bachelor's.

BACK ON TOPIC,
I delivered pizzas for Little Caesars for two years. This was in Eugene, Oregon. A college town of about 150,000 people 100 miles south of Portland.

The neigborhoods I delivered to ranged from crappy apartments and trailer parks, to middle class areas with 140K homes, to wealthy areas with homes ranging from 300k to millions of dollars.

What I found was that the low and mid-income areas tipped more consistently, but rarely gave large tips. Usually $1-$3 depending on the order size.
There seemed to be much more variation in the wealthy areas. There were a lot more wealthy people who didn't tip at all, but the ones who did generally gave larger tips. Often $5 or more.

So overall, it came out about the same for me no mater which area I went to. Averaged about 2 to 3 dollars a delivery and 3-4 deliveries an hour.
