Pizza Delivery....such mysteries...

Alright, so last night, was my first night "driving" for Domino's Pizza around Central FL. I just do it on the side, like Monday/Wednesday nights.

Anyway, it gets interesting because last night it was sprinkling/raining hard in some of the area, so you figure people would be a little more generous..

So I go from house to house and over the night, I can go to a pretty big house in a wealthy neighborhood and get maybe $1 and change, some 2-3 bucks.

Last one of the night (it was pretty crappy) and im going to this house down a little gravel road with some doublewides, give the guy his pizza and salad, total is like $11.75, he gives me a twenty, i go to get the change (like he's gonna give me 8.25$ for a tip!) and he says "keep it, be careful man", im like 'uhh uhh, thanks have a good nite'.

shocking what you get where you dont expect it. ah well, thought i'd share.

anyway, its a good side job, i usually average about 10$ an hour in tips + hourly + .50 per delivery. Car is a corolla, so not much in gas 😛

Exactly, the rich are rich usually b/c they are tight a$$es with their money and are not very giving to others.....I'm generalizing of course but ndee has the idea.

huh, sounds like an interesting job...I wonder how much the delivery people make around here, with the area being fairly affluent...wonder if everyone's a tightass like you say 🙂

its not bad overall, when you get screwed it normally gets made up for later...

some people can be arses, like give you $22 and the bill is $21.93 and say "keep the change"!

i wanna say "STFU!!!" but i can't, so i just move on and hope it gets made up for...

That's an interesting perspective.... true in probably too many cases.

It does mean, though, that you can't judge a book by it's cover, even in a trailer park 😉

That's when you take that 7 cents and throw it back on their lawn..."No, you keep that."

people that really tip well are the people that are already in the service industry.

some rich people are generous and some are just stingy bastages

You're not going to get rich by jipping the delivery guy of money.

I would say a better correlation to being rich is education level.

Some of us worked our way up the corporate ladder and remember what it was like to have a service job.

Thats when you get fired 😛

Just curious chin311, if the total is like 13.50 and i give ya a 15.. thats perfectly acceptable right? 😛 sometimes i tip in the 2-3 range, but sometimes rounding is easier.

I disagree. How many wealthy teachers and professors do you know?
Exactly, there aren't any.
Sure there are professionals, et., that do well, but even the lifetime income of a professional athlete pales in comparison to that of a professional actor, for instance.

Yeah, i could live w/ that. I think 2$ is more towards the norm... anything over a $1 is liveable, tho not preferred.

I said a BETTER correlation would be education level... i didn't say education determined wealth.

Not necessarily.

Just an example: I know a couple, they would rather wear a sweatshirt in the winter in they're house then turning up the heat....

Of course it's a generalization but I know from experience.

How do you know they don't enjoy the cold? I know in the evening just before bed, i like my house being cold... nothing like snuggling up in bed and falling asleep in the cold. Waking up i like things to be hot though.

Generalizations are the intellect of the lazy.

Um, because they SAY they rather wear a sweatshirt then turning up the heat? If they would enjoy the cold, they wouldn't wear a sweater....

I enjoy the cold yet i still wear a sweater. It's the cold in the right places. It's why a hot tub is much more enjoyable in the cold than it is in the summer. You seem to think generalization is a gift or something... if you know anything about critical thinking, hasty generalizations is a fallacy.

Anyone else just get a bad mental image of him "snuggling"? 😀
