What's weird is my security level update shows 'September 5th,2017' and no amount of checking for updates will find an update. I thought there was a November one out already. Hmmmmm.....very weird no?

Yea you are 2 updates behind. It's probably because it takes a few days for your sim to register in the network and for your device id to be pinged by Google's servers. After a few more days pressing check for update should bring it to you.

Yeah I figured I'd trick it so I stuck in the Verizon sim the phone came with and it immediately found an update. I'll let it update then stick back the AT&T sim and let it ride from there.

This phone is amazingly snappy. Loving Android Oreo so far. Love the form factor. Audio volume is great but SQ is not up to par with the regular LG phones - songs that used to really give me amazing impact with bass are now less bassy and articulate. My IEM's are pretty high end.

Haven't tried out the camera yet. So far the blue shift has not bothered me even though it is easily seen at various viewing angles. I like the screen overall besides that. Not happy about having to take a dongle in and out of the usb-c port to use headphones as that will cause extra stress on the port. I hope they thought of that and built it extra sturdy. Battery life already seems better and I am using an app called Gravity screen that helps turn the screen on and off without needing to use the power button.

Battery is suppose to be very good on 8.1 but mine is still settling in. The camera is awesome, you will love it when taking portrait mode photos. My burn in isn't that noticeable on this unit but I can usually see it a few times if I check with that grey image. My roommate's burn in is much worse because he plays a game that has the on screen buttons always on the screen. Not sure if he will RMA it but I will if it's more noticeable.

My sister came by with her Galaxy S7 and her screen tints blue at an angle. Not as much as the Pixel 2 XL but certainly easily noticeable

My first one had more noticeable blue shift. This one its barely there and the screen is pure clear white unlike my roommate's who's screen is less bright. There are definitely variances. Which is why I haven't RMA this one yet because my burn in hasn't been as bad as the first one and the screen is much better. My sister has an s6 and s7 and she's always complaining that it's slow.

Can't get my phone to charge rapidly. At first I thought it was because I had Gravity Screen running but I paused it and it still won't charge rapidly. anyone else have issues with fast charge?

That's odd the latest patch is December that im on. I got it 2 days ago and the Android version says 8.1. My friend also didnt get the 8.1 update but he's on AT&T.

If I use the supplied charger I get rapid charging. Weird because all the chargers I have are Qualcomm Fast Charge 3.0 certified and I guess I wrongly assumed the Pixel 2 XL was compatible. The Google charger is $35 which is ridiculous. WTF

I still don't have the Dec 5th update or 8.1 and I'm using StraightTalk(AT&T).
I would look into sideloading it in that case. My roommate is on cricket which is also att and he never got the update via ota either. Kind of defeats the purpose of hassle free updates when the carriers are still involved. But one advantage you have to other Android brands is you can sideload the update yourself.

Just got it OTA and downloading now, kind of wanted to avoid side-loading it. Rather have the phone do all the work.

A lot of folks on the major carriers with Pixel 2's haven't gotten the update yet on the ANdroid Central forums. It seems to be quite the norm.

Yes, my battery now drains faster. Before I used to be at like 93-95% after 44 min of on screen time. Now it's at that percentage after 20 min of on screen time. My developer buddies all say the battery improved in 8.1. I'm not sure, I may need to do a factory reset to confirm that. But my battery screen on time definitely dropped.

There's a setting that 8.1 switches on in Developer Options that people are switching off so I just did the same. It's Mobile Data ALWAYS ON (even when on Wifi and enables faster network switching).

Strange..this used to be in wireless and network settings on previous Android versions and I always turned it off. Not sure why they re enabled it now and hid it in Dev options.

Weird indeed. I did my first battery test - booted up to 100% and just did wifi stuff around the house and lost about 8% at about an hour of SOT. I'll keep tabs and report back. Let me knwo if changing that settings brings back your battery life, or part of it

So far 8% for an hour is where I'm at now. I'm at 52% with 3 hrs screen time. I normally get about 4-5hrs of screen time before I need to charge. So I guess it's alright for now. I did turn that setting off around 6pm today so we'll see.

Edit: This morning I'm at 95% with 18 min screen time. Something is draining but I don't know what. I thought in 8.1 they added a feature to tell you what apps are draining by showing a red icon next to it. I don't see that here.
