Well, it's obvious that Detroit can't hang with the Lakers. What are they even doing there. They are getting demolished. I feel so sad for them being the meat from the east.

Hahaha Riiiiight

Whats up? Kobe who???

Check the thread. I told you all the Billups would go off and he has. We are owning the boards.

Deny the entry pass to Oneal, keep Kobe from attacking rim and you will beat the lakers EASY.

why would anyone want the lakers to win? they're like the fvcking yankees. staaaaaaaaaaaaaacked.

i really like to see the underdogs win here 🙂 goooo pistons!

Well, the Lakers crapped that one away. I still think they'll win this one.

Lakers in 6!!!

BTW-I've been a Lakers fan since the early 90s. I never saw the Lakers win a championship until the Shaq, Kobe, Phil Jackson years.

GO LAKERS!!!

Man...I wish I were downtown for this game...maybe I'll watch it at the Palace on Tuesday. 😛 What a great start...haters beware. I still don't get how Billups always has a great game against the Lakers, while Rip, who has been hot for 2 series now, was horrible.

Goooooo Pistons!

welp, that sucked, lol.

naw, i admit i underestimated the pistons at first, and they seem to adjust quite nicely and played a good game. the lakers also need more help, the fact that their next highest scorer after shaq and kobe was george with 5. plus kobe not connecting as well either. hopefully the get their shots back for game #2 and make it a much tighter game. but for tonight, my hat goes off to detroit. no need for excuses, they just played better and beat l.a., on our* own turf no less.

easy answer: Kobe is an All-NBA defender. Payton is a defensive has-been.

hahahahaha, I know that you're singing a new song now, eh ?
Detroit is gonna do it this year for sure.

man, i can't wait for Game 2.

L.A. desperately needs to get help from their role players. did someone say the Laker's bench was better than the Pistons?

All the pressure is on the Lakers right now. Pistons split the first two home games and their in good shape. If the Lakers lose Game 2, they are in deep trouble....if the Pistons go back home with a 2-0 lead, they just need to win 2 out of the next 3 home games to close it out.

Best part of the game: at the end, the Pistons weren't celebrating. they just walked off the floor, confidently. the Pistons are a mentally tough team and they know they are just as good as, if not better than the Lakers.

Lakers in 5. If they get lazy, maybe 6. You can spin it however you want iamme, but the Pistons have no chance. All the Lakers have to do is shut down Rip, and where the hell is their offense going to come from? Don't give me Billups, because he wasn't even that great against an injured Tinsley. 75 points on a regular basis isn't going to win many games against the Lakers.

heh, Rip shot poorly, Chauncey dominated Payton, and the Lakers are the ones who only score 75. that's three strikes, trmiv 😀

The Pistons only hope to win a few games is to run their asses off, something Larry Brown is apparently reluctant to do. The Lakers are a very good half-court defensive team, and the Pistons are limited in the half-court, yet they always seem to play that style of game. If that continues, they have little chance of winning more than a game. Who's going to score on the Lakers in the half-court? Rasheed? He's not even close to Duncan or KG's level, and Malone did a great job against both of them. Plus, Shaq is basically a free safety on the denensive end because of Big Ben's limited offensive game.

The Pistons executed their half court offense, like they've been doing all season and through the playoffs. Why did it look so bad against the Pacer? Because the Pacers are a MUCH better defensive team than the Lakers.

btw, Ben Wallace outscored everyone else on the Lakers outside of Shaq and Kobe.

The Pistons do have a good defense, but it isn't so great that the Lakers offense is going to have no chance. Remember the Lakers beat both Houston and San Antonio, two teams with very good defenses as well, and in the Spurs case, a much better offense. Plus, those two teams presented bigger matchup problems for the Lakers than the Pistons do.

i've been saying this throughout this thread. the Pistons play a different level of defense than the Spurs. it showed last night.

Seldom Campbell couldn't give Shaq trouble with a gun. Trust me, he's been a Laker. Not one of those guys can guard Shaq straight up, and he's seen the defense by commitee approach. The T-Wolves tried to play him physically, it didn't work. Plus, I see all this mention of shutting down Shaq, tell me, who's going to shut down Kobe?

Tayshaun did a good job of making Kobe take contested shots. held him to 37% FG.

"We" are owning the boards? which player are you? I don't understand how people associate themselves with a team they have nothing to do with and 1000 miles away from no less. So if detroit wins I guess you take part in the victory? you downed some sodas and chips while sitting on your ass wasting time?

I think too many people underestimated the Piston's defense. They're showing up and contesting almost all the shots (that don't involve Shaq shooting). This should be a great series and I think the Pistons are going to surprise alotta people.

Your not a sports fan so why post. Go back to your stupid sheltered little life maggot.

btw, i think this goes without saying: Game 2 is a MUST WIN for L.A.

why? because the Lakers are an average at best road team (22-19 in the regular season, 3-5 in the playoffs), and the next 3 games are in Detroit.

going back to Detroit down 0-2, i can honestly say the Pistons will win in 5 or maybe even sweep.

good news for the Pistons: even with a loss in Game 2, they did exactly what they needed to do....split on the road.
