"Were" would be OK, too... since Roger Waters left.
zing!
but pretty true... hey, it's a dynasty, it's evolved over time is all... They're like, four bands in one...
Actually, while their songs were good, Waters had an obsession with Syd Barrett's fall into madness. Nearly every song from Roger Water's days were about this.
It's sad, actually. And if you read the lyrics, it shows the total ignorance Waters had about the causes of mental illness. The Wall is a perfect example. It blames bad teachers, bad parents, dead parents and concert promoters for what is a chemical illness in the brain.
Didn't he go insane partly because of all the acid he dropped in conjunction with a myriad of other drugs? That's what I always thought anyways. If I'm right in that, then perhaps bad parents, teachers, etc etc drove him to it?
But yeah
Pink Floydrugs and insanity = George Thorogood
rinking
He couldn't handle the loads of drugs and increasing fame brought from a rising band in the hayday of rock n roll.
Social conditions have so much to do with how a person develops they cannot be shrugged off. If someone has a predisposition to have a certain mental illness, the conditions in which they were raised and live in have profound effects on their psyche.
Piegonholing it and saying that he just had a mental illness and factors such as teachers, parents, promoters and the likes had no effect on his mental state is ridiculous.
