The Internet has ruined cub scout pinewood derbys. It's sad really--instead of inventing (like the op did), it's all about "How much money do you want to spend on plans/cars from the Internet?" I saw one site that guarantees a winner or your money back.

The ones that buy their cars premade suck the most. Look at this piece of work.

The auction should say "I sell these cars for dads that don't want to make time to work on something with their kids." Just rubs me the wrong way.

BUMP!!!!

I finally got the pic site to work for me.
Here is the car my dad made (by hand) almost 20 years ago.
Actually, since its the start of 2008 we could say just about exactly 20 years.
He was the first person in our pack to do the whole "axle/wheel polishing" thing and using powdered graphite.

It was originally legal for all groups and damn near always won.
Eventually he hollowed out the botton, put in some lead weights and covered it with wood filler.
Now its only legal for the adult races.

I have tried many times to make something as good but never came so close to perfection. By the time I finally made a kick-ass car I was no longer racing.
