People who dont drink, bone, its as simple as that. Secondly, speed limits as a whole just need to be increased, not completely abolished. Everything else in the world is moving faster, why shouldn't our cars ?

foo, how old are you?

if you're not responsible enough to handle the consequences of your own action, you're definitely not old enough to drive. anyways, better believe it. have fun fighting your ticket and losing.

Shoot, I forgot to do it in the story format....

So I was driving home from class mid morning on Wednesday.
I just witness a woman run a stop sign. That makes me a bit mad.
I decide to go down a side street instead of follow the stupid lady.
I forget that there's always this cop on this street.
I make the mistake of not checking my speed.
I see cop.
I start to pull over before he even turns on his lights.
He gives me ticket.
Dang.

ok "foo". Apparently you haven't had much experience with our legal system. Everything is for sale. I just want to pay the lowest price.

Wow, you guys all need to relax. I think you're missing Alastor's point/objective. He wants to find out the best way to get out of the ticket and is seeking the advice of the users of these boards. That's more of a courtesy to all you than a "fvck you I love breaking the law" type thing. Instead of annihilating him for WHY he wants to get out of it, why not provide assistance or ideas in regards to the legal dealings he'll be facing. Sure it's fun to bash newbies and "vent anger", but this thread was an obvious attempt to get assistance and destroying someone looking for help is no more noble than any "I don't like the speed limit law" logic Alastor has. The possiblities from a thread involving guidance/insight about the U.S. legal system and the ins and outs of it would be more intriguing/wortwhile than a mass argument, don't you think? Just my .02.

no, maybe you're missing the point. if someone helps him get out of a ticket he KNOWS he deserved, then what will stop him from speeding in the future and expect to get off with the advice he got from his first ticket? if he knows he deserved the ticket, then he deserves to pay whatever fines there are. period.

I know you can get traffic school for less than the $25 I paid, so somewhere around $132 would probably be your lowest price in CA :)

Its simply drawing a parallel between the constant references to the whole "idiotic laws- I love them" philosophy that's in this post.

ah i see, well i don't put myself in situations where i would be arrested for drinking.

<< It was 3am, there were no other cars on the road. I dont "deserve" to pay sh!t. >>

Zzzzzzzzz, wrong answer, there was a *cop* car on the road. If it makes you feel any better, there were no other cars on "my" road, unlike yours.....just a bike cop.

lol a bike cop? why the fvck would you pull over for a bike cop? Why not just speed away, & park your car in a parking lot somewhere really fast, and then come back later? NM, I thought you meant a cop on a bicycle.

Did he *have* to hit you with radar to tell that you were speeding? AFAIK, that's a negative. He can pace you and determine that you're going at an unsafe speed.

I know exactly what you can ask/say/do to get out of the ticket, but you're a rude little punk with no respect for authority. Enjoy your ticket.

Whats up with calling them "pigs"? I thought that term pretty much died along with putting whitewall tires on cars.

In most cases, yes. If my idiot friends weren't in the car, I wouldve known he was "pacing" me. Notice that he didnt give me a ticket for speeding immediately? Its because he didn't KNOW how fast I was going. If I wouldve slowed down after he turned around, he wouldn't have done sh!t.

Here, Here!

This guy is a little troll who is making his appearance, just today, so he can try and get someone to listen to him, hopefully to build his ego. Let's stop giving the snarf attention.....maybe he will just go away. ;)

<< Amnesiac...see that's just unfair. I personally, would love to hear what you have to say about "getting out of the ticket." If you refuse to say because of him, say it for the sake of the board as a whole. As an aspiring lawyer, this stuff really interests me. >>

Seeing your very first post was in this thread, not to mention it's almost 1:30 PST, I do not trust you.

Look Alastor, I really was just giving you $h1t for fun earlier...I understand where you're coming from. But really, I'm sorry, but you're WRONG...not just in what you did, but in the way you believe life should be.

When you get older, experience more, learn more...you'll understand. Until then just give a listen.

You live in a 'society'. I don't like 'societies' but I live in one, so that's that. Our society is based not on justice but on laws. That's the reason I am not a police officer...becuase I believe in justice over laws. Anyway, the laws of this society are in effect no matter what. There is no 'time zone' for speed limits...there is no 'shoulda been' stuff in a court. If you believe there is a bad law in your area, then start studying alternatives...when you come up with a viable one (meaning one that is safe and fair for the masses, not just convenient for you) then start lobbying to get it in there.

As for what to do now, it's too late for that. You DID break the law. You DID agree to the laws by getting a license, and agreed to be bound BY the laws of this nation by continuing to live here. You can go fight in court if you want, and you'll probably get a slight reduction. And if you show up with the attitude that you screwed up, and it won't happen again, and you just want to make it all right you'll probably impress the judge with your maturity and do ok. But no matter what you're gonna take a hit for this, maybe a big one. But the pain helps it sink in as a learning experience. It wouldn't be a valuable lesson if you didn't remember it, and that's what the fines and such are for...to cause you discomfort for a while to remind you. It's just like spanking a child.

If you're unhappy with this philosophy, then you need to move. Leave the country because as long as you live here you WILL be bound by the laws, and you WILL pay the consequences of your actions. I know the justice system is screwed right now, and seems to show rich and powerful dictating their own justice, and it does happen that way somewhat. But you ARE NOT OJ Simpson. Here's a harsh lesson for you to remember - YOU DON'T MATTER A DARN IN THE GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS TO ANYONE BUT YOURSELF. No one is gonna change the world for your happiness...you have to do that on your own. Buying your way out of your responsibility is WRONG...it's morally reprehensible. It's a thousand times worse than speeding...speeding is just breaking a man written law. Not being willing to be responsible for your actions makes you unfit as a human being. I'd bend over backwards to help someone who broke a law, but was a good person. I'd watch a morally corrupt power monger drown before my eyes and never flinch or shed a tear even if he had never broken a law in his life.

Be a good person. This is the only life you have. Live it well. Peace.

Actually he was already Going to stop you for speeding... he just had to call into his dispatch and let them know what was going on... he might even have thought you were going to run.

Obviously I wont take any "big hit" for this. It will most likely be drastically reduced. My friend got a ticket for doing 57 in a 35, and he had it reduced to NOTHING. Now before you go off and say "omg he is another idiot", he is going to yale, &, is smarter than you. :D

Where someone goes to college, knucklehead, does not make them a better person. Being smart does not make someone a respectable or good human being.

My favorite part of this "I am THIS Stupid" story is how he decided "Yeah I saw a cop, but I don't know where he is now, so I'm going to speed AGAIN", then acts suprised when he gets nailed for speeding.

I probably could have gotten into Yale.

big hit? A point on your license, increased insurance, ticket cost.
