1/2 on winamp and -30dB on the receiver made it through alright. The driver was going nuts on the first part naturally :p
The rats didn't seem to like it

Well, my gf has two female rats. She's also "ratsitting" for her friend's 2 male rats in a different cage.

Techno/Trance/etc. requires it along with some hard rock although like I said, I listen to a lot of the music on just a 2.0 setup. The subwoofer helps out with certain types of music and a lot with movies. It isn't the best setup for movies right now, but definitely better than watching it with the standard speakers in the TV ;)

I'll be getting surrounds and center channel later on - just to give you an idea, the surrounds will come close to $1k after tax and the center channel will run be $600-$800 alone so it's not just money I toss around.

One piece at a time my friend ;)

you have a nice large room which i envy but almost nothing in it, seems too big for you. Carpeting might help it seem smaller and reduce the echo effect you probably have going right now.
Also i think it's time for you to invest in an Audio/Video rack or a nice TV stand for that new TV you need! lol

very envious d00d
It might just be personal taste because I like to have lots of open space, I have a futon that I can move over from near the pool table into this room and might end up moving my desk back a little and putting a futon here as well, would be better for seating for movies when I have other people over. Thanks for the compliments though :)

Yeah stupid site is down whats up with that???

Anyways they're pets. That's cool. :)

I was hoping that was the case. In any case if you get unwanted rats in your rafters a few sweeps will make them leave!

They respond to the lower frequencies because it is shaking their cage! Imagine if you were sleeping and someone started jacking around with your bed. Ok that sounds kinky but you know what I mean! :)

A piezo supertweeter getting about 50W CW at 28kHz would probably mess with them.

I guess I could add a couple of these ;)

I don't think I can really hear above 16kHz myself though, so it would probably be wasted on me.

Whatever happened to the SVS products with four 12 in drivers that was passive? It seems like all of them have onboard amps now?

You should be able to hear >16k unless you've been bad on your ears.

I just checked with the highly scientific method of sine waves via NCH tone generator and it looks like I was off by a couple thousand. I can definately hear up to 18kHz but the 19kHz tone doesn't do it for me. I guess I can kind of sense it that it's on, but it doesn't seem like a "sound". I guess that's pretty normal though.

Kind of the same sensation when you get a CRT that gives off the high pitched noise from a bad component. I don't remember the name of the part it is that does it, but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

As for the B4plus (PB12-Plus/4), I don't know what happened to it.
They still sell the passive cylinder series at the bottom of this page http://www.svsound.com/products-sub-cyl.cfm but they stopped selling the amps to go with them.

I e-mailed them earlier about that and they said "We decided to discontinue the standalone amps because we weren't selling enough of them to make it worth stocking them."

There were a couple nice cheap used dual 20-39 CS+ with 1000watt amp sales just recently though. I told Agaboogaboo earlier that I'm kind of glad they didn't show up when I was in the market or I'd probably be a few hundred dollars poorer and I still have more than enough bass with just the single PC+.
