Hm, I think if a Hummer or whatever oversized steel giant were to go head-on with the corvette, it would probably just run over it. As long as the vette has enough vertical strength, I think it would slip right under rather than being crushed like a soda can.

Of course, there's no way I'd ever buy a Hummer either but then you already knew that. ;)

Exactly. Hey OP. Can you find any pics of a Hummer vs a Suzuki motorcycle?

That's exactly why I drive an F250...

My tally thus far:
86' Honda CRX totaled by another driver
89' Honda Civic DX totaled by another driver
96' Honda Pacific Coast totaled by another driver

I can't buy Honda's any more :(

The Hummer wouldn't even notice as it crumples the tinfoil.

Wow dude that's a shitload of accidents and bad luck, or maybe you aren't a cautious driver, even if it is the other persons fault, there are things you can do to prevent accidents.

I've had one accident thus far which I was not at fault for, but being inexperienced I did brake too fast and did not give the person behind me enough time to slow down. Now I brake accordingly to make sure the person behind me has room. They don't teach that in any drivers ed course here, it's simple logic and common sense which unfortunetely many people don't have. So was I at fault? No. Could I have maybe prevented it? Maybe.

A few months ago there was an F250 truck vs a Corolla on the highway and the Toyota was smashed beyond recognition and the 2 people inside died on the spot. The driver of the F250 didn't have a scratch on him.

I'd never buy a small car, full size sedan is as small as I will go, or possibly a sports car like a Corvette.

A Corvette probably wouldn't fare much better against any of the behemoths grazing public roadways with clueless idiots at the helm these days though.

The only reason they are behemoths, is because of the morons that want their trucks to ride like luxury cars. Hell, 60's cars with real sheet metal are lighter than most car's nowadays.

Just a little relativity. ;)

No matter how big you go...there's always someone with a bigger one out there. :p

Yup, this will destroy just about anything. In the Canadian Oil Sands one operation uses a flattened pickup truck for a reminder of safety. It wasn't the Truck in the pic that ran over the pickup, it was one Wheel that rolled away onto a parked pickup.

I think we need national legislation so that the strong points on all road vehicles meet.

I feel that way on my motorcycle. :D

Honestly, if I felt afraid every time I got on my bike I probably wouldn't ride it.

Just watched on a news a report about a car accident. Toyota Tercel crossed over the median strip and crashed head-on into a mid-size SUV. Woman driving Toyota Tercel dead and the two people in the SUV with minor injuries.

Amazing braking distance, for that size.

God forbid that we take into account the right to life of the poor schmoe in front of you. Thanks for taking your insecurities and turning them into a way to kill a station wagon full of eight-year-olds that you missed because you're seven feet off the ground. There are many valid reasons to drive a truck, including "I must move a trailer full of toilets" or "I must fill my bed with manure to sell to yuppies", but "I want to do to others before they do unto me" is a pretty poor one.

Also, fun fact about trucks: You flip, you die. Rollover protection on most trucks is abysmal.

IIRC, most of the strength in a Hummer is in the ladder-frame chassis. If you hit it above the bumper line, it's pretty squishy.

Well then, lets just hope you're driving that station Wagon so my post is justified in the future! The 8 year olds are only worth 10 points or so, but douchebags like you are worth 100 so I'll accept a little collateral damage to get the gold.

What are all those 8 year olds doing driving a car?
