I think it will take time and a frontal lobotomy to get used to that look. Butt-ugly, IMO. :frown:

Learn about compression ratio's and how the stang is the most aftermarket upgradeable vehicle in the world and then you will know whats going on in real life outside the magizene.

Boy it sure looks ugly though, they should just do a revamped Fox or just keep the new version of the SN95 longer. 😉

Too me.... at least they got rid of that WEAK 3.8L V6. My "dads" GM 3.8L V6 on a Bonneville kicks its arse. I dunno about the styling. The back looks like a ferrari (straight and flat) and the front can use some work. But a new engine by ford... Woot

But the only Ford I would buy is a Crown Victoria/Grand Marqui or the New Mercury MARRAUDER!! LOL its like you raping the little Ricer car with that car, its great.. I'd love one and it comes in a convertable SUPERCHARGED!!!

The GT will appeal to the general publics pocket book for those who don't NEED 400hp. This is NOT disappointing cause most people don't want it. But the people who want it will get a 400hp f1-style paddle shifter 6 speed tranny. I wouldn't call that disappointing?

I haven't seen many 4.6's do anything decent on an average budget. Now the 5.0 was a nice engine. 🙂

hehe I almost bought a 91 mustang 5.0. But it was auto so I said freak it no way. But the 5.0 will kill any guy with any sort of money. 93 spec octane and the $$ for fuel these days, I wouldnt go out with it. I'd rather walk.

Then do some research because the 4.6 is ALMOST as cheap to mod these days and will make a lot more power on its stock internals than a 5.0 will.

The engine right now already has 265. I could really care less about the power because this is one ugly mustang. Who the hell is designing for Ford these days?

A cobra is ~$10,000 more and your still driving an ugly $12,000 musting.

It would appear, in this case, by retro they mean boring. For a muscle-car, it certainly doesn't look muscular.

scorp00, the Autoweek article says, they're hoping to get 280hp out of the 4.6L V8.

Hoping for 280 is still sad. My car is 8 years old, and came with 275 hp from the factory.

But most people who buy cars just want something pretty even if it is a POS mechanically.

It's been named one of the top engines by C&D for the past couple years. That's why there's the 400+ hp Cobra if you're looking for ball-plastering performance

Man, Rustangs suck azz. Only 280 horses from a 4.6L V8?!? That is about as efficient as using a school bus engine to mow your lawn... My car puts out 255 from a 3.5L stock. What the hell happened to FORD?

Who keeps stock internals? 🙂 It's a rather cheap upgrade and helps performance a lot.

I certainly hope you aren't expecting the Mercury Marauder to rape the little Ricer car, because I can think of several Japanese mid-sized sedans that are as quick, or quicker. For example, V6 Accord, Altima, Maxima, and Mazda6.

AutoWeek couldn't get any faster than 8.01s 0-60mph.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

Ford lost its chances to claim the attraction factor of the Corvette when they went soft on the Thunderbird and made the rust machines badged with "Mustang" in the 70's. At least Chevy kept the Corvette's styling similar as they went through the different model generations (although the most radical was the 82 to 84 transition).

I wish Ford would have nurtured the tbird and mustang names so they would carry the same allure as the Corvette. Ford could be enjoying catering to the $40k crowd with a car that could realistically be called a sports car. Instead, they've gone for volume sales and disappointing stock performers.

Sorry, but I have to agree.

I have owned several mustangs, and helped build many others.

For one, most people keep the stock internals for the street. So to answer the question of who keeps stock internals, I would say anyone smart. The 4.6 on its own has a strong bottom end, and will hold up to most performance upgrades. You can throw a cam in it, ported heads, and a supercharger on it, it will hold up just fine. If you are building a 500+hp engine for racing, you certainly would junk the stock internals, but for most people, there is no reason to.

The 5.0 was a great motor, but the 4.6 is better, IMO. The shorter stroke and overall design is reminicent of the 289, and better suited for a stang anyway.

Just my opinion.

Ford has competed with the Corvette. It has a Supercharged Mustang that packs 390. Don't get me wrong, I like Vettes, but I know several "attorney friends" that have them and they stay in the shop all the time. If I buy a $40,000 car I want one I can drive. Therefore, I would sink my money in the Supercharged Mustang.

The Mustang has always built lower model cars (V6) for the kids who just turned 16 and can't afford a 30,000 car. It is also affordable with insurance, so mom and dad are happy.

They also have the V-8, which is $27000 to $30000. This is marketed to those graduating college. The Supercharger is marketed to the $35000-40000 crowd.

I particularly don't like this picture, but I bet the actual photo's released in January at the show will look alot better and/or different.

The only time Ford sucked at designing a Mustang was in the 93' error. That Mustang just looked plain girly.

Eleanor is da' bomb...I would love to drive that car...just once! Maybe I could drive it off of the Long Beach Pier like Nicholas Cage did in Gone in 60 Seconds. "Girl Got Skill"

What an igornant comment. The Cobra is in the price range of a Z28 SS or Firebird Ram Air. You buy a Z28 SS which is still just a 12k Camaro??? You purchase a Lincoln Navigator which is still just a 28k Expedition? Same with the Escalade=Tahoe? Don't know much about cars do you? Of course it is built off the same platform, but the Cobra lightyears over the v6 sibling.

This years cobra features the 4.6L 4V V-8 with a supercharger, producing 390 horsepower. That's the car i want 😀

The '03's 12.9-second quarter-mile at 111 mph (Motortrend). 🙂
