*PICS* I bought a PStwo (the new small one)!

So, my PS2 has been getting read errors for some time now. Well, yesterday it finally conked out! 🙁 But wait, this means I now have a good excuse to go pick up the new baby Playstation! 😀

Anyways, Kristin and I went to Best Buy (they're having a big sale) to check things out. They did have them in stock, so we picked one up and went on out merry way.

Here are some pics:

Picture - The box!

Picture - The PStwo and everything that comes with it.

Picture - The back panel.

Picture - Flip-top!

Picture - Here is a size check.

The thing is so small, I love it. It comes with the network addapter already built in (thanks Microsoft). The PSU is now outside the system, and hangs inbetween the PStwo and the power plug. The on/off switch that was in the back, is now completely gone. It also has two USB ports (intead of just the one), and an infrared port built in for a DVD remote(?).

Overall, we're pretty impressed. I know there has beeb posts (even by me) about this thing, but I wasnt sure if someone had first hand expereince and pictures of it.

Enjoy!

At first, I thought it was just a slimmer version of the big PS2, but it's clear when you put the game case and PStwo side-by-side.

My PS2 was getting read errors also, and I bought a new one like a month before the pstwo came out 🙁. Can't justify buying a 3rd PS2 even if it looks that cool.

You might be able to get $20 or $30 from your broken PS2 on eBay. You should check it out.

Actually, EB said they give $30 for non working units and $70 for working. It sometime works, so if they test it in the store and it works....VIOLA!

There is a way to adjust and refocus the lens on PS2 so that it will be able to read DVDs and PS2 games again. It will void your warranty. I saw hoe to do it on Techtv but could not find the infomation on the new web site.

So you'd say buy the slimmer version if you don't already have a PS2?

Or if you do have a PS2 but your room is so messy that you desperately need the extra 10 cubic inches of space =)

But dang, that thing is SMALL!

It isn't worth it. I did it to my first PS2 and it went something like this.
-Adjust gear ratio.
-DVD games work!
-CD games don't!

-CD games work!
-Adjust gear ratio
-DVD games work!
-CD games work!
-Day later nothing works
-Repeat process

Another use for the hard drive on the original PS2 is for HDLoader. It allowed you to legally copy your games to the hard drive and you can play them from there... Games load much quicker from a hard drive than from a DVD. It sounds like a great idea.

Gamestop gave me $85 for my first gen PS2, $45 bucks for my GBASP and a ~14 for a couple of old games so I only ended up paying ~5.xx for mine 😀
