Lol @ that thread. Yeah I have to admit I wasn't thinking about sweet pickles when I made this thread. Yuck sweet pickles don't count.

They're refreshing way before you dip 'em in ranch.

I love me some pickles, put 'em on burgers, chicken, in salads, naked in my mouth, they go great with tuna.

Don't think I've ever eaten a pickle. Maybe when I was young and wasn't as discerning with my hamburgers. I do know that when they are present and then removed, there still lingers a vague taste of yellow mustard, and yellow mustard is good, so pickles must not be that bad.

Sweet pickles can go to hell, but I love dill, and other variants. Talk of Texas pickled okra rocks, but it's kind of pricey. About $4 a jar, and I can finish it in a couple of servings :^(

the butcher i go to makes them. you can get 3 huge pickles for $1 (if you buy something else in store) we always get some. they are great.

If it is made right, you need quite a bit of salt, though. Somewhere between 10 and 15% of the brine's mass needs to be salt (I can't recall the minimum), so as to prevent the bad bacteria from being able to proliferate. Even vinegar pickles need salt in the liquid.

The pickles shouldn't have too much salt in themselves, though. Unless you are sitting down and eating a whole jar, maybe...

Yeah I was just going to complain that your poll wasn't specific enough. Sweet pickles are awful. Dill pickles are in fact awesome as you say.

Pickles Rock ... Dill Pickle spears and sweet pickle relish are two required ingredients for a hot dog. Hot dogs are good when you make em right.
