Served on sandwich or burger or along side sandwich or burger is good however, and this is key:

The pickle MUST NEVER touch the bun or bread. Nothing more annoying than a wet spot on your bun where the pickle touched it. I hate it when a deli cling wraps your sandwich with a pickle spear rubbing up against the bun. I want to issue a rageful scream "What is wrong with you!" at the sandwich maker. But I don't, I just quietly die a little inside and meekly accept my sandwich, wet bread and all.
