Pickle Juice

Some people think cramping is frequently due to ion deficiency. Pickle juice is usually pretty high in ions, such as Na+.

However, cramping is not always an ion balance issue. It can frequently be a dehydration thing, over-training, using an excessively tight or stretched muscle in an atypical position, nervous system dysfunction, lack of energy substrates, etc.

I was always told it was the potassium that helped deter cramping, but I think in reality it is like electrolyte deficiency where unless you're doing a lot of work over an extended period of time, you're not even close.
