 Nice bike! I like it!

Do those come with heated grips?

Bikes have heated grips?😕

<------Ignorant of all that is bike 😛

Some do.

Trust me, it's a very nice feature if you ride when temps get down in the 50s or below. My friend's BMW had them and I rode it a few times in cool temps, it's well worth it if you're commuting in the early morning when temps are cool.

BMW is way overpriced. I'm not going to pay twice as much just for heated grips. Nice bike but not worth the premium when buying new.

Ya, BMW stuff is overpriced, however it's good that Lotus stuff isn't 😛

Guess I just need to go try one out. I think either would probably be much snappier and probably more comfortable than my old Nighthawk :-D

Honestly I wouldn't be too worried if you can't flatfoot a bike. You'll most likely soon not even notice after you've been on it a while. I haven't been able to flatfoot any of my bikes (Yamaha XT225, ZX-6RR, GSX-R1000). After a few rides, it was pretty easy to get used to just having my left foots toes on the ground.

Lotus doesn't make motorcycles. 😉 Although, I was rather taken by the Triumph Street Triple.

BMW sells very well thought out and engineered bikes. But they are overpriced. You can buy any comparable Japanese bike for almost half the cost and it will probably run circles around the BMW. The Triumph Street Triple was more than the SV650 but only by about $2k and it has 30 more hp yet weighs almost the same as the SV. The BMW F800ST (most similar to the SV IMO) costs $12k...almost double the price of the SV. It's quicker than the SV but not quicker than the Triumph.

I'll have to go down and test ride the F800ST one of these days. They always have a couple demo bikes for customers to ride.

Like I said, that didn't factor into my decision to buy the SV650 at all.

Fair enough, I'll just have to do some test riding :-D
Sadly, I'm all out of money. 🙁 I just bought a Honda Pilot with the thought I can use it to haul around things like a kayak, bicycles, or the Nighthawk if I want to take it somewhere far away

I hear ya. I just paid off my Maxima so the bike payment is peanuts by comparison.

Heated grips are a $20-30 addon to any motorcycle if you know what you're doing.😉

The SV is not my first pick for a first bike though, get an old CX500 like I did and beat around on it for a few years, then the SV will seem like God's gift to motorcycling.

P.S. Anyone want an old CX? 😉

This isn't my first motorcycle.

I don't think I'd recommend it as a first bike either though. It is a fast bike and could easily be too much for a n00b to handle.
