Discussion Picked up a laptop with a Ryzen 3200U. What benchmarks do you want to see?

Will post requested benchmark results here.

Memory is single channel for now. Brief play tests had CS:GO and borderlands 2 as playable at 1080p low and 720p low respectively.

Which one did you get? I recently just got the HP 14" Slim / 4GB / 128GB SSD (768P). Already upgraded to 2x8GB, will be looking at 1-2TB NVMe SSDs next month for it.

Mine supports 2560x1440, with the newest 19.7.3 drivers.

Is the 3200U less powerful than a 2500U? I'm considering a 2500U(no dgpu) laptop in future for playing basic games unless the 3500U laptop comes out by then.

Personally I'd love to dig into a HWiNFO sensor log for a combined Idle - CB ST - CB MT - CB GPU run.

Thanks for input all, I probably won't get to benchmarking today but should have time tomorrow. I also plan on adding a second RAM stick to get it to dual channel soon.

(4 GB / 128 NVME / 15.6" 1080p IPS). It was a Prime Day deal for $269. Bought it for the wife as she needed a new laptop but just needs it for basic office work and occasional Netflix. Even as currently configured it's really snappy and more than what she needs performance wise and the screen is great, she's very happy with it. It was an incredible deal for the price. Just because I'm me I'll add in more RAM and probably a SATA SSD (there's a spot for it) down the line. Probably gonna stick with 8 GB on the RAM, like I said, even at 4 GB it's plenty for her.

Thanks! Keep it up. I'd like to see your R15 numbers to compare them to my old A10-7700k.

I re-did the R20 runs today and I think there was something running in the background a little during the plugged in multi core test yesterday, today I got 750 with very little variation between runs.

Your pi score blows away my 4.7 GHz A10-7700k with DDR4-2400 and 2100 MHz NB! Best I got on that old machine was 15.625 seconds.

Man it can't be stressed enough just how big a leap Zen has been for AMD compared to the dark era. Best of that era IMHO was around '09 with Phenom IIs being pretty affordable and a good bargain alternative to i7 920/1366 stuff, and roughly on par or better with OC 9xxx C2Q. Even into socket 1156, an unlocked Phenom II X2/X3 to X4 was a pretty great niche that left a lot more budget for Ram, storage, GPU, etc. It was Sandy that kind of nailed that shut, and we were off to the stagnation races.

Speaking of, I have an older but super solid Dell E6440, would be interesting to see it compared to a new budget laptop. I'll run some benchies and see how she goes when I get home later. :)

I don't run many benchmarks, are those considered good scores?

Comparing my Cinebench R15 scores to intel's latest (for now), it is very comparable in performance and beats it by a significant margin in perf / w. That's just one benchmark though, I'll keep running more.

Thanks. Wife had needed a new laptop for a while but her use case is so light that I was waiting to score something cheap but with an SSD and a nice screen that didn't have an atom CPU or something. I have been very impressed by this machine. It's super snappy and has a solid screen and is only 4 lbs with a 15.6" screen. I wouldn't want to do heavy compute work or anything outside of some casual gaming on it, but for it's purpose it's rockin it hard; I feel like I got a steal.

3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited added to OP. Compared to my Athlon 5350 in my HTPC it scores 2.45x higher in graphics and 1.89x higher in physics. The 5350 is a cat core based quad core CPU. Mine is ever so slightly overclocked to 2.1 GHz from 2.05 GHz.

As another bench.......well, perhaps Cinebench 11.5 to complete the Cinema4D trilogy, CB 11.5 is up to SSE2 while R15 goes up to SSE4.2 and CB R20 extended the used ISA up to AVX.

Single core tests go up to 3.5 GHz and mostly stay there. Multi core tests the frequencies bounce around a bit between 2.8, 3.2, and 3.5 GHz. I'd say it averages around 3.1-3.2 GHz. I haven't seen the power reach 11W yet running CPU benchmarks. It averages between 9- 9.5 W during multi core tests.
