get some star specs for tires
hmm

Don't know if you decided on a color yet, but a guy I work with bought a new civic, and I think it has a really nice blue.

Still waffling on color. Redoing red since it would be the cheapest is still an option too.

how did you test for boost leak?

And you vouche for plastidip, eh? Im curious to see the results of your full roof blackout, because I want to do that to my MK1.5 - and plastidip may be the solution!

I really like plastidip. Its removable so nuttins permanent.

using something similar to this. The small leak we found was only there above 20 lbs so it was really hard to find.

Man its always something with this car lol

Cheap way to do plasti dip is to buy it in liquid form and get a cheap harbour freight electric spray gun.

still sitting there taunting me. Getting a guy with a forklift to come over on monday night to help me lift it.

Been staring at components and had a drunken idea. Would it be nuts to cut out the back firewall of the engine bay and welding into the american car so I can run rhd and swap sides of battery etc?

I know I can go rhd without doing said surgery but the idea of having an exact frankenstein transfer of the donor nose and guts sounds cool.

Just asked a buddy and he called me an idiot.

Why RHD? Are you left handed and wanting to swap with your left hand?

Edit: Shift not swap. Don't know why I typed that

That's the whole point of getting a midnight blue color car. It changes colors depending on lighting. I love my midnight blue car.

Doesn't look purple to me at all, looks pure blue... unlike the dark "blue" color they use on Mustangs that is 100% purple

Finally got around to deleting HICAS

Hicas delete kit unboxing

instead of removing all the lines and buying the NA power steering I just looped the hicas and installed the billet stillen bar

easy as cake removing everything. Ended up replacing inner tie rods since they were crazy old.

Rear end of the car behaves much better under power now. I did a few quick romps in the parking lot behind my building last night after installing and its much less likely to kill or maim now!

Really hoping to paint soon though doing it in the winter makes sense since the car wont be driven. Too many projects so little time!

Thats a clean NA! The battery relocate and the deletes really clean the bays up.

The 300zx is running very well thx for asking! Havent had too many chances after doing the hicas delete other than drive it. I may get the coilovers soon if time allows. Since the 240 is newer I have spent more time on that.

I'm looking at a 91 NA 300zx with a bad transmission. I'm assuming its automatic since they were weak parts of this car, but haven't actually looked at it in person yet. I've already sourced a working automatic locally as well.

I'll try to get a picture tonight, but am told its in nice shape, runs fine, just needs a transmission.

Going by just that, and the fact that its going to be sold at a farm auction in the country this weekend, I'm wondering if it will be super cheap and might be a steal. I was told this was something the guy bought as a project and just got sidetracked.

or does bad transmission equal 'used and abused'?

That is the million dollar question :) The auctioneer said "It starts and runs, but doesn't move". He was told it needed a transmission.

I'll know more when I see the car and check out the condition of the interior. I don't know if I can see the odometer without the key turned, or if its analog. From a quick search, it looks analog.

If I did decide to get the car, I would have to decide between the 300zx and my 2000 Jetta 5 speed.

Cool! The autos if the hard parts arent shot are not that bad to rebuild. show us some picts!!!

Since your in Kansas there is an auto trans for 650 bucks at eurasian auto in Whichita that could get you the road cheap that I found on car-part.com

You want to go nuts and convert to a TT ?

you know you want to !!

:p

btw even the NA z32 is an improvement from a 2000 jetta!

manual swap is doable for under 1k usually. Much cheaper if you wait for deals.

I'm going to go out tonight after work to look at it and take pics. I located an auto in Wichita already for $500.00 but its a customer pull and not from a "reputable" shop.

Normally I wouldn't be interested in an auto, especially in a 300zx, but my wife hates driving my jetta due to the manual and she would like a car like this with an automatic.

Majorly bummed. Was told it was a later model 300. Nope! Its a 1987 model, made 11/86. I took pics still, any interest in seeing them? White with tan cloth interior, suprisingly decent condition. Only a Z31 though.

If you are really interested in a z32, My friend is selling his. It was a florida car that he had shipped up to MA. back in 2005 or so. Very clean car. It is a N/A, 5 speed 2+2. Off white with a sorta ratty tan leather interior. I don't remember what year it is. It runs and drives very well. He's almost fifty and is looking for a Mercedes now.

PM me if you wanna know more

Not me. I'm looking for something in the 400-500 range that needs a bit of work since I'm mechanically inclined.
