If its a complete unit for $259, its a pretty hot price. Make sure they include the duplex unit and haven't taken it out (its an $80 option).

I just picked up a floor model 2 weeks ago for $115. And a 2-year parts and labor warranty for $30. The printer didn't work -- took it in for service and got a replacement model (new) instead of a repair to the original. Not too bad...works great (love the duplexing) and the photos will knock you out
:D

sorry I meant that it was $459 at amazon and $259 at this store and it does include the duplex so I think that is a HOT DEAL in my opinion

HP.com has a refurbished P1100 for 229 with duplexer with 1 yr warranty.
looks like there is a newer model out all ready too, HP isn't even selling the P1100 on their website. Now it is the HP 1215 photosmart scanner for 399...

The p1100 line is discontinued. But its still a darn good printer for photos and general purpose. Love that duplexer!

It might be a discontinued printer, but a darn good one. I got mine during the Staples price match with Office Max for about $200 total in Mid-December :D. Great for printing out high quality scans/photos.

I think HP refurbish p1100xi sells for $229 and the sales person I talk to said there is only 90 days warranty.

Here's where you can find it for $249.99
Linky for HP photosmart 1100xi $249.99

PM with Staples with this sku# 394056
http://www.staples.com/Catalog/Browse/SKU.asp?BCFlag=False&PageType=1&SKU=394056
Don't link this cause staples track links.

Use the $30 off $150 coupons and you can get the printer for $220 plus tax.

Don't let them tell u that J&R printer is a 1100xi and there is 1100. Talk to HP both printer is exactly the same. The reason they put XI is for commercial advertisement.

Good Lucky.

I got this at office max for $245 after Christmas. It is an excellent printer. I have had some problems with w2k though.

semperfi, I'm assuming your posted price is after tax? that's how much and where I got mine. it is a truly badass printer :D

what problems are you having? I'm running mainly win2k right now (can boot 98se, but why? :D) and haven't found any problems, yet...

Jsmonet, thats right tax included. If you look at this thread where I posted my problem.

Hp told me to reinstall windows and I am still having some problems although it is working today. I love it when it works.;)
I am leaning towards the cable giving me problems because 98 didn't detect it last night.

I work for HP and support the PhotoSmart line.. the 1100 is not discontinued, it's just being manufactured at a different factory with a slightly different name, now "1100" instead of "P1100". The only difference between the 1100 and the 1100xi is that the 1100xi has the Adobe Photo Deluxe softare. It's a great printer, and do us all a favor and read the freaking directions before trying to install it. :D

That's funny, I've never seen that document before. Still, it's not right. They're being made in spain now, the new ones start with an "ES" (Spain) in the serial number, as opposed to the "MX" (Mexico).

Ghostsoldier, I am assuming you are talking to me when you say read the instructions before installing. If that is the case I guess you didn't read the thread where I explain that it worked perfectly for several weeks.

I am still haveing problem although on my last boot to w2k the yellow icon is gone and is printing.

I've found from experience that the P1100 will not work with the Dell Inspiron 8000 with Windows 2000. Unfortunately HP tech support doesn't know what to do when their drivers blue screen.

just remember to visit hp's website and dl the latest win2k drivers for the printer. also, hooking it up via usb is always preferable as parallel is SUCK to the highest degree. just try printing a 40meg+photo over parallel... ugh, takes forever :( but over usb..well.. ok, so it doesn't zoom, but usb takes half off the print time for me.

I know that USB seems much easier for WINDOWS systems to adapt to.

HP could have made it easier to install the drivers, but I've managed to figure it out.

I don't get blue screens just the yellow icon saying printer is not connected. I have tried usb and parallel. I can't get the usb to work at all and the parallel I get the yellow icon but so far I tell to try again then works. This is what happened before and after a while quit recognizing it completely.

SemperFi, I just meant people in general should read the instructions, not anyone specifically. 9 out of 10 calls I get are from people who installed it wrong. As far as not being able to get it to work, call tech support, if the guy you talk to can't fix it, call again and get someone else. Some, (ok most) of the guys here are idiots, but a few of us can fix anything.

AlphaVMS, call tech support again, talk to someone until you get it fixed.

damn this was the simplest printer i've ever used, install the drivers, reboot, hook up printer..

awesome printer, uber easy to use due to on screen display, and works great with my digital camera memory flashcard.
