That is a pretty darned thorough reply. For a busy person, I think that would certainly be worth $9. I think I'll stick with Photoshop 7 for now.

System admins are going to be foaming at the mouth. I can only imagine what kind of ramifications this would have for disk imaging and mass-installs. :Q

I still use it and have no probs. I don't feel the need to upgrade software every year or two when a bunch of useless features have been added for $100.

3. The cracked ISO file posted in various places on Usenet does not
stop the signature from being written, but after the modified files
are copied into the installation folder, the signature is no longer
checked, nor is it rewritten. Absolute sector 32 can be overwritten
and CS still starts and works normally.

While illegal, it appears there is a work around.

So how is the Macintosh affected by all this?? How does Adobe CS "call home" on OS X??

well... looks like Adobe gets added to my list of banned companies to deal with.
Right above Intuit, from their same crap last year (or was it two years ago?... eh, I don't care... they lost me)

If any of you sucka's already installed this crap, you might try adding "127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com" to your hosts file.

bump, cuz adobe needs to be slapped

What if your firewall doesn't let Photoshop CS communicate out to the internet? Does PS still work?

What, the Dimitri Skylarov issue wasn't good enough?
