Here's some of my shots. All Pictures were taken with a Nikon D50 with the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens. All images are a straight RAW file from the camera, exported to JPEG from Adobe Lightroom.

Replica Shelby Cobra. It is my opinion that it has to be one of the sexiest cars ever made. A polarizing filter was used.

A golf course at 6:15am. It was really fvcking cold. This picture was for my photo class, and we did up the contrast in Photoshop, but I haven't brought the file home yet.

One of my first night shots. This could use a fair amount of processing (lighten the foreground, darken the sky to get more color, etc.), but I don't have Photoshop yet (it's on the wishlist, along with a pair of better lenses).

The Marriott at the San Diego Convention Center. Again, this is straight out of the camera, with no filters. I don't think I would process it much, if it all.

Tons of nice photos here.

The Santorini pics stand out for me (lots of others too - Mr. Wongs, for example). I am convinced now of the importance of processing. I will read up on it and start shooting manual too.

Here are a few of mine. Keep in mind they are from total amateur right out of the camera. Not much merit since they were all taken on automatic (except I disable the flash). Edit: taken on Canon s200 Elph - just a crappy 2.0 mp point and shoot.

Riga, Latvia
Sigulda, Latvia
Muhu Island, Estonia
Tallin - Raekoja Platz, Estonia

Thanks to everyone for sharing.

Eh, what the hell, I'll post a couple two or three. I haven't picked up my camera at all, though, since I moved 3 months ago. I need to take more pics.

MY FAVORITE OF 2006

'my excellent compatriot eyes - Took this behind the work dumpster. He's our little friend that scavages any food scraps we stick in there. Needless to say, we treat him well :). A little PP done to sharpen the eyes to bring them out, and adjusted white balance to soften the leaves.

2006 RUNNERS-UP

Two-tone Sunset - I took this on Jan. 28th, 2006, next to my apartment building. The color is what attracted me. This pic is pretty much straight out of the camera, with little to no PP.

Marigold - I haven't taken many flower pics, but this is my favorite. A little PP done to bring out color.

Natural Bridge, Slade, KY - The trail leading back down from the Natural Bridge.

I've got a lot more that are favorites of mine from this year, but no sense in flooding them all on here. I think everyone needs to pick the one picture that they claim as their best, then post others to round out their favorites.

I shoot in Manual mode or in Aperture Priority mode. I know where my lenses are sharpest. So I set the aperture as the contant and adjust shutte speed accordingly.

I also shoot in RAW+JPEG(S) to get the most flexibility.

thanks! what did you do to the last pic to make it look so much better? The post-processing results of the last pic is especially outstanding
