Philly still in charge

Yes, well the Eagles are in some trouble at this point of the season, the horrible loss against the Cowboys was a disgrace.

On the bright side of things, the Flyers are looking great!! one point out of first place. Forsberg is looking outstanding and leading the NHL in assists and close to the lead in points. Gagne is tied for most goals in the NHL.

The Sixers are in first place and looking great also, with a team that's very promising. The ever so great Iverson, Webber, Corver, and the welcome surprise Iguodala.

At least Philly has two teams they can be proud of right now.

Well if you are a Philly fan then i think you would disagree, it's only outsiders that don't understand the passion we all have for our teams.

Funny, I was recently in Edison (Giants country) talking to a waitress who prefers to go to games in Philly because Philly fans are ordinary working-class people. Sure, they get rowdy sometimes, but they know how to have a good time.

Sure, until they choke late in the season, the playoffs, or worse yet, in the championship tournament.

It's the Philly way.

Yes very true, and that is also the extreme pain of being brought up in the area to love the Philly sports teams.

Philly can win all the Hockey, Soccer, Poker, bowling, pizza cook off, hot dog eating, syncronize swimming championships it wants, nobody really cares

One waitress in Edison really doesn't really do it for me.

Noone is a Phillies fan until they win, then they were all fans since Richie Ashburn.

Philadelphia hypes up their seasons so much that anything other than a championship is a disaster. My favorite is how many people said "TOLD YOU SO" when TO started going nuts. The same people that were saying they will win the Super Bowl for sure with him and it was a great move to get him.

"Insiders" are blind to their numskullery. The rest of the sports world knows this.

Actually I think there are a large number of people that do care about hockey...thanks butt monkey.

The Eagles suck, Cowboys owned you. 😛

They Flyers are doing well, but you aren't even in first place in your conference (you do have a better record, just less games played thing), much less the league. I don't follow basketball much *opens up standings* and you guys are doing well there too.

I mean really, I could say the same about Dallas. Cowboys in first (division), Stars in first (conference), Mavs in second at 5-2.

"in charge"? No.

GO COWBOYS!, GO STARS!, GO MAVS!

Flyers look like they have swiss cheese defense this year, however. Probably due to slugs like Hatcher. We all know what happens to teams like that come playoffs...

The Cowboys are not the team you think they are, sure you can talk smack right now and say that they owned the Eagles this year, but mark my words....The Cowboys are not a playoff caliber team this year. The Flyers will make the playoffs this year and stand a good chance to win it all with the team playing the way it is right now. I don't follow B-Ball that much either, but the Sixers are on a six game wining streak and looking great right now.

The Cowboys will flop and win only 2 of the games remaining in the season and finish 8 wins and 8 loses with the Giants taking the division for this season.

Yeah I guess we're not one of those cities where everybody gets all psyched up about the prospect of ALMOST making it to the playoffs. Even if your team is in a complete shambles, you still want them to shoot for the stars. What is wrong with that?

You wouldn't happen to live in Dallas 😉 ?

Well then I feel sorry for a city that can't get amped up about it's own sports teams, we do get crazy when it comes to our sports here. Philly is a great city comprised of regular working class people that like to drink and get rowdy and have a good time. What is wrong with that?

Actually it is just called "realistic expectations". Hey I don't really care what gets you going for your sports. I can't think of another city that puts their teams up so high only to see them choke under the pressure, year after year after year. The fans are guilty and the philly media is guilty. I have yet to meet an intelligent philadelphia anything fan.

What exactly about "working class" makes it almost inevitable that someone defending philly sports will use it in their arguments?

Guilty of what? Are you one of those people who believes that what you wear and where you sit to watch the game have some supernatural impact on the outcome?

I'm still not seeing what's so bad about the fans and press actually getting excited and going out to support their team....

It's not defending the teams, it's defending the audience in response to your statement that the fans make the sports despicable.

Those same fans are what makes it FUN.

You will not see it since you are part of it.
