Thanks o1die! I was thinking that 100f is hot for a GPU, also applies to CPU.
so if I oc, what temperature should I try to keep it below?

I was able to unlock the extra 2 mb of lv 3 cache, which is great.
however, i was not able to OC past 2.8ghz... at 3ghz it refuses to boot into windows.
another problem is that I was unable to oc its onboard hd4200.,.. anyone know how?tyia

thanks Arkaign, i'll try it with my new board.
I'm returning the MSI board to frys due to it not able to oc hd4200..
I really liked the board however the inability to oc is getting to me
bought a biostar , cost less ($59 on ewiz), allow oc , has 128mb integrated video memory, has more memory slots..etc
doesn't have hdmi but i dnt need it anyways.
will report back on oc results.

Thanks bro for making things more expensive for returning perfectly good products

Did you have to increase voltages besides the CPU voltage?
What's the safe range for voltage increases for the CPU/IMC/NB/Ram etc. etc.?

ok, with my new mb and new cpu
x3 710, biostar TA785GE 128m
unlocked 4th core np, had to disable quiet 'n cool but thats no biggie for me
hd 4200 oc to 850mhz
cpu oc to 3029 mhz, havn't tried higher...
stock cooler stock voltage, idle temp is at 32 c, stress test max out at 60 c
is this acceptable temp range?

Every chip will be different but the higher the HT and bus speed the higher the NB and CPU voltage. Its actually very safe to fo 1.4 to 1.45 on either so a tad of extra sb juice can make things a bit more stable. Getting HT above 2400 does really help the speed so on my 955 I actually dropped the cpu speed to 3.7 from 3.8 and was able to push the NB to 2600+
Edit:
After some messing around with NB at 2600ish is fantastic, after a bit of reading over at XS they found that HT at 2000 was actually faster in 3d than higher, I kept NB at 2600 and lowered ht to 2k and nothing slowed down. Was able to drop volts on the NB a tad too.
