Seems like everyone else is just bashing any preliminary results and hoping AMD doesn't compete with Intel??????

If the Phenom 2 really ends up being mediocre or crappy we can all expect to pay more for Intel, so I think we better start thinking positively and cheering AMD on!

don't confuse hope with expect. I hope AMD will give intel a run for their money. I don't expect them to.

Intel will have to slash pricies. Still doesn't add up Unlocked 6+ghz capable. = $275. I don't believe the price is right.

maybe they are hoping for the same cascade effect with the GTX200 series. AMD released a comparable item for so much less money, that everyone said that the GTX200 was overpriced / crap / etc... To the point that now people will even pay more for a 48xx then a GTX2xx. Maybe they are hoping for a similar lash against intel if they release something really really good for a fraction of the price.

Or maybe it is hype and they are gonna have a tough time against the core2 series, much less nehalem.

Same question to Intel. Why are their clock speeds so low (3.00GHz for normal CPU's, Q9650), when almost all seem to overclock to 3.5GHz+.

Please don't say that which is not true. IC7 IC7 965 = 3.2GHZ+ $1000. Now thats expensive . Anyone buying one of these is expecting 4 ghz on a simple mult. change.

If PH2 can do the same exact thing for $300. Even if it slightly underforms Intel. AT same clock is a hugh victory for AMD. HUGH!

What would intel have to do to cover this? Cheapen the entire penryn line. Making the Intel unlocked Xtreme virsion = to 940 PH2 . Thats something all would enjoy. Also with all the slides shown so far I haven't seen the PH2 920 O/Cs. Thats odd. So AMD is going to battle midrange Intel with the High end 940 PH2. I see this as a All in(poker) move by AMD. If intel calls the bluff . Lowers pricies of Penryn line this could be AMDs undoing.

Since i have filled my qouta on AMD held shares. I take special interest in this development. If intel is kind things should work out.

So if AMD Phenom 2's can overclock well, then Hugh Hefner will have his Playboy Bunnies pimp the product? I guess I could stand having a processor pimped to me by a bunny. ;)

Just make sure you double-wrap before touching the CPU.

a quick searched showed me its 800$ for such a phase changer, unless that one is unusually expensive as far as phase change cooling goes then this does not bode well...

EDIT: Ok, found a few other phase change cooling... 800$ is the right price.

Actually my friend got a very good OCZ phase cooler for around $400 in 2007 for his Quad and this price is in "India" so the price in USA would be lower. It looks as a UPS but has only one cooling leg but it is quite effective at least was. But the noise was toooo much for my comfort i would prefer air/ water over the phase cooling also it weighted almost as much as his whole Computer case.. :D
