“In terms of the age of an actor we’ll eventually to cast, I don’t know. In terms of the age of what we believe Peter Parker is, I’d say 15-16 is right.”

So that settles that: the new Spider-Man will still be Peter Parker. But in terms of him being high school-age, we’ve been hearing for a while now that this was the age range Marvel was aiming for. Speaking with Steve, Feige explained why he’s eager to bring forth a Spider-Man that’s still in high school

As the people in the video discuss it will be Peter Paker as a teenager. I'm stoked. I grew up with Peter Parker as the only alter ego of Spiderman. They can cast whomever as long as he's the best actor they can find who is believable as a teenager for years to come and fits the essential core elements of Peter Parker as a character.

*e2a*

Also Peter Parker allows Marvel to skip the origin story as Mr. Feige states will not be extensively covered, if at all, in the new MCU Spider Man movies.

welcome to what has been known already.

What was known was Spiderman going to MCU... what wasn't known and speculated about was Miles Morales from Ultimate Spiderman being the kid behind he mask... but thanks for the input. :colbert:

The only choice.

Actually here is a poll that lists less jokey candidates
http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=497147

Most of them are relative unknowns but you never know. but if one on the list guy is cast I expect a zombie carol to run around behind Spiderman being only able to say two words "Where's CARL?!"

Sweet.

The WB Presents:

Spiderman

Who knows? Even as a teenager Peter Parker is brilliant he just doesn't have access to the resources that Reed Richards or Tony Stark. It would also be interesting to see a younger super hero (who can go toe-toe with or at least avoid being outright squashed by the current line up) interact with the more experienced heroes.

Remember the interaction between Banner and Stark nerding out? Imagine their surprise when Peter Parker keeps up with the conversation an points out things they overlooked. Yes Peter Parker is that smart if you're familiar with the source material.

§ure you could think that, or you could go along with the reality that has existed since the collaboration announcement.

Sorry, Miles Morales fans, Sony and Marvel are sticking with original 616 Marvel Comics universe Peter Parker for the foreseeable future.*Doug Belgrad, president, Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group:

“Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios share a love for the characters in the Spider-Man universe and have a long, successful history of working together. This new level of collaboration is the perfect way to take Peter Parker’s story into the future.”

Why can't we have a Spiderman movie that begins with Spiderman who fights a bad guy? By now everyone understands the origin of Spidey.

It's spelled Spider-Man not Spiderman.

I always wondered why it was hyphenated and Iron Man wasn't. Fortunately, Google to the rescue! Apparently, Stan Lee didn't want the titular hero to be confused with Superman given the same colors (blue and red) and similar name. Although, that doesn't explain Ant-Man! :hmm:

ANOTHER Spiderman reboot? Must miss!

Perspective: the others were a relic of Marvel selling their soul in the '90s to avoid going out of business. Just like they sold X-Men to Fox, they sold the Spiderman rights to Sony/Columbia Tri-Star with a contract that would automatically renew as long as Sony kept making movies with it. Because it was "use it or lose it," Sony rebooted even when no one wanted a new series. The reboot is what kept Spider-Man out of The Avengers or any other Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. This latest incarnation we are discussing is how it should have been, so don't hold Sony's previous versions against Marcel Studios/Disney.

It very well might be the first good one, i heard that in exchange for spider man being in the MCU for Civil War, marvel will help them make a non suck spiderman movie or 3

Where's everyone getting this from? Feige said they are skipping the origin story..

http://screenrant.com/spider-man-marvel-cinematic-universe-origin-story/

It’s important to note, that while Marvel is looking to introduce a Peter Parker who’s in high school and only 15-16 years old, the next web-slinger adventure will not be another origin story.

http://www.craveonline.com/film/articles/845723

“In Spider-Man’s very specific case, where there have been two retellings of that origin in the last whatever it’s been – [thirteen] years – for us we are going to take it for granted that people know that, and the specifics,“ Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios, told CraveOnline in a one-on-one interview at today’s junket for Avengers: Age of Ultron.

“It will not be an origin story,“ Feige continued. “But, with great power comes great responsibility. It is inherent to who his character is. But we want to reveal it in different ways and spend much more time focusing on this young high school kid in the MCU dealing with his powers.”

The first minute of the video from AMC in the OP specifically mentions Mr. Feige's statement that it will not be an origin story.

Think that would be pretty stupid, and probably against the marvel desire which I imagine holds a lot of weight given the sony desire for $$$$ at this point, to go back through an origin story after he appeared in another movie.

Marvel is only talking about their Marvel Studio movies when they say they aren't doing the origin story again, which makes sense: It's an Avengers movie, not a Spider-Man movie. To my knowledge they did not say that they don't want Sony doing another with it.

I like how he says it isn't an origin story, but everything he states describes an origin story.

I haven't read yet but it sounds like he's setting the backstory, which would be different than having the movie show an origin story.

I'm actually really disappointed that there will be no Amazing Spiderman 3. I thought Garfield was the perfect actor for the role. Rather goofy but also played the tough Spiderman well.
