Too bad we probably wont' see anything until at least summer 2010. I think he's pretty much who everyone was gunning for to play the part.

Based on George R.R. Martin's best-selling "Songs of Fire and Ice" novels, "Thrones" is described as an epic struggle for power set in a vast and violent fantasy kingdom. Dinklage will play Tyrion, the Queen's brother who is treated as an outsider because of his size.

Interesting, the song of Ice and Fire series sold around 2.2 million copies I think.

Yeah, I can't imagine any other actor doing the part unless they were going to do some John Rhys-Davies LOTR-type special effect.

an auspicious start. if they keep Zack Efron away from Jaime we might have ourselves a show.

Michelle Pfeiffer would have been such a kick ass Cercei...15 years ago

I was going to watch it despite not liking the books, but now I'm actually EXCITED. I like Dinklage in everything I've seen him in so far. Yes, even nip/tuck. Hm... didn't like the books, liked nip/tuck. I might have a brain tumor.

I can't wait. HBO usually doesn't half ass their mini-series and the story is fantastic. More medieval political as opposed to the typical fantasy magic fest.

Now if only he would finish the next book instead of blogging about writing it...

Cersei is older ...

The script to the pilot has been linked.

(early early spoiler alert: it ends with Jaime throwing Bran out of the tower).

Apparently the plan is one season = one book. Book five might come out in time for them to make it into a season ... don't hold your breath.

There are only 3 right? I haven't missed the release of #4 or anything hopefully...

Which will likely be a couple of years before we see the next book.

Dinklage seems like the right guy to play Tyrion.

Just like everyone else here, I think Dinklage is perfect. It's actually uncanny how well he fits my mental image of Tyrion.

There we go. Its been so long I forgot there were 4! Sadly I will probably have to reread them all just so I can remember who is who. :(

it would have to already be near a final edit to make that date.

I'm not reading bk 5 until the series is done (in 2020?) at which point I will re-read the first 4 so I know what the hell is going on. You can't go 5 years between volumes with this many characters and be expected to know wtf is going on.

Cersie is 32 in GoT. Too young for Pfeiffer who's past 50 (still hot though!)

and he hasn't finished writing it yet. They periodically change the date at amazon over the past 4 years. I think they pluck it from thin air each time.

He's totally not how I thought Tyrion would be. I always imagined to be more bald and a lot more ugly. I want to see how it'll end up with make-up on and everything.

More casting news:

http://grrm.livejournal.com/95840.html

The biggie? Ed Stark...... Sean Bean. Nicely done I say.

I think they made a mistake with King Robert though. Maybe he'll pull it off but I don't see this guy as commanding respect from anyone. And Robert may have become a sloth, but he was a warrior underneath.

Jon Snow is a newbie.

Wow, I love these books, didn't even know they were making a mini-series out of them. Maybe book five will get done in time for the 5th season. I'm also interested in how they are going to fit everything from 1 book into 1 season. I get confused sometimes and have to reread chapters to figure out wtf is happening.

I hope G.R.R. actually lives long enough to finish the series. I gave up on them like 6yrs back. He's not exactly the picture of health.
