All kidding aside I don't think going vegetarian is exactly the answer. Supporting farmers who raise the animals in a caring environment is a better idea. The natural food stores will sell foods like that.
Exactly. I would wager that much of that video footage came from the FDA itself investigating companies that were out of compliance. For example, a lot of the scenes of brutality made no sense from a profit perspective. And the industry way to kill a cow is not to cruelly and slowly slit its throat but to shoot it quickly and painlessly.Originally posted by: 0roo0roo
eh, bull, a group with an agenda. they only show the worst of the worst. like showing a video of police beatings and condemning the police. ]
many places shoot the animal in the head before slaughterduh.

surely most animals aren't treated this poorly this must be somewhat sensationalized?
ack my stomach is rolling.
If you can afford to be vegetarian, I admire you your decadent luxury, but remember that much of the world is still starving to the point where they will eat anything they can get their hands, and cannot pick and choose their food.

Because extreme black-and-white solutions are all that most people understand.Originally posted by: TheBDB

The decandent luxury exists in that you have the ability to choose to be a vegetarian. In most parts of the world, people just want to be able to choose to eat.Originally posted by: Moralpanic
WTF? Decaden luxury? It's CHEAPER to be a vegetarian than a meat eater. Salads, pastas, etc don't cost as much. I was a vegetarian for a year, and it was very cheap on the wallet.

It's true that the animals don't live very good lives, but the world needs to eat, and eat cheaply. If you can afford to be vegetarian, I admire you your decadent luxury, but remember that much of the world is still starving to the point where they will eat anything they can get their hands, and cannot pick and choose their food.
