The fact that Alec Baldwin narrates only makes me believe it even less.

So, Alec was recorded while he lived in France because he vowed to leave the country right?

WTH do they expect the meat industry to do to supply enough food for all of the fast food chains, other restaurants, grocery stores, etc.?

A lot of the blame on living conditions and health conditions of the animals lies with FDA and USDA and their lax enforcement. Well, meat packers and such lobby heavily to reduce or eliminate restrictions. It's pretty bad when food at a fast food joint is deemed safer than that going to our schools' cafeterias.

Another reason why I think ALL lobbying before Congress should be BANNED.

All kidding aside I don't think going vegetarian is exactly the answer. Supporting farmers who raise the animals in a caring environment is a better idea. The natural food stores will sell foods like that.

I agree. Animals have meat and are meant to be eaten. :D

But that doesn't mean that they need to live crappy lives up to the time that they get slaughtered. Nor do they need to be slaughtered in a cruel fashion.

many places shoot the animal in the head before slaughter:p duh.
Exactly. I would wager that much of that video footage came from the FDA itself investigating companies that were out of compliance. For example, a lot of the scenes of brutality made no sense from a profit perspective. And the industry way to kill a cow is not to cruelly and slowly slit its throat but to shoot it quickly and painlessly.

It's true that the animals don't live very good lives, but the world needs to eat, and eat cheaply. If you can afford to be vegetarian, I admire you your decadent luxury, but remember that much of the world is still starving to the point where they will eat anything they can get their hands, and cannot pick and choose their food.

surely most animals aren't treated this poorly this must be somewhat sensationalized?

ack my stomach is rolling.

That's exactly how the chicken and beef industry is (i worked in a beef slaughter house, and my parents were goign to buy a chicken farm a few years ago). I'm not too sure about the pork industry, but i'd assume it's correct.

WTF? Decaden luxury? It's CHEAPER to be a vegetarian than a meat eater. Salads, pastas, etc don't cost as much. I was a vegetarian for a year, and it was very cheap on the wallet.

And to those who want to believe this is only the worst of the worst... well, if it eases your conscious to believe that, then keep on believing that. But being ignorant isn't going to make the situation better.

Because extreme black-and-white solutions are all that most people understand.

The decandent luxury exists in that you have the ability to choose to be a vegetarian. In most parts of the world, people just want to be able to choose to eat.

Disgusting. Unfortunately, it's a fact of the mass meat industry.

We eat organic, free range meat. It tastes so much better than store bought crap.

Sweet video, what was so cruel about it? I don't care about some stupid chicken or pig, just as long as dinner is on the table!

First off, we're not talking about the world's situation, just about our situation. Second off, i think you're hyperboling the extent of the world that is living in hunger that they don't have a choice to what they eat. True, lots of African nations and others like N. Korea are starving, but the vast majority of the world can at least feed themselves. Second, nowhere did i say everybody should be a vegetarian. I didn't claim to be one either (at the moment at least). I just said that that video speaks the truth, that's how a lot of the animals are treated. We don't have to all be vegetarians, and i'm actually all for eating meat. But we don't need to make the animals suffer. It's a given that in the wild or whatnot that the animals would probably be hunted and killed anyways, and that even domesticated, they'll be use as food... that's the way life is. But i also think the best thing we can do to these animals is to have them live a good life before we kill (humanely) and consume them.

umm, i recently decided to try and become a vegetarian, and it has been a lot cheaper on the whole, rice and beans are pretty cheap, what made you think tbones were the cheaper option?

Compassion for other living creatures is a trait which defines mankind. Perhaps you should look into it.

These animals would be treated a lot worse than that out in the wild. Having said that we have the choice to be more humane, and I think we should even if it makes my burger cost a little more. But this in no way makes me forget that humans are omnivores and meat is a natural part of our diet.

LOL so that was a digital fake, right? Guess you've never had to kill a chicken before. There's some truth to saying of 'don't run like a chicken with it's head cut off'.
