pet peeve: stray shopping carts

so why dont these low lives ever take the extra 10 seconds to put their shopping carts bhack in the cart collector instead of leaving it stray in the parking lot?

you see this most often in wal marts

Ah yes. That's why I spend minutes in parking lots looking for a protected spot. Usually I'm trying to park on the top of an incline. Now as parking lots are exactly hilly by nature, you can guess what kind of an annoyance it is 😀

the psych teacher i had last semester asked the same thing....then admitted that she usually left her cart wherever her car was parked *sigh*

lazy asses!

Most likely because they are lazy and don't check their spelling when making a post LS21! 😉

I miss my old Suburban. Gently nudging carts out of the parking spot I wanted and watching them go flying across the lot. Very satisfying.

I know, ya can't do this with modern candy-ass cars; you'll set off the freaking airbags and watch your own head fly out the window and go bouncing across the lot.

That'd be hella sweet to watch my own head go bouncing around. I must find out how to do this. 😀

There was a newspaper article way back when airbags started to become common about a woman who got in a fender bender in the grocery store lot. The airbags deployed, ripping the head off her infant child, throwing the head out the open passenger-side window. The story is awful but the last line was priceless. "An officer attempted to console the young mother." I have visions of this police officer leaning into the car and trying to set the kid's head back on, explaining that it wasn't all that bad.

Amen, brutha.

Yeah, I hate this too. It reeks of laziness and lack of concern/consideration for others. The same people that do this would probably scream bloody murder that "their baby" was scratched by a stray shopping cart.

You must not be looking very hard. It is common in every parking lot for a store with shopping carts.

And yes, it is annoying. A growing segment of the population is in capable of acting in a courteous fashion. In short, they only think of what is best for themselves at any given moment and any extra effort for anyone else is never considered.

My personal belief is that it stems from wave after wave of parents that are more concerned about being their child's best friend rather than making the tough choices good parents have to make. Kids raised in this fashion simple aren't nice adults. But I will cut this short, I don't want to take the thread in another direction.

I had an old Chevy Caprice (IE tank) and did this more than once. They make a surprisingly large THWACK when you hit.....nudge them.

We even made a game:
First to hit a cart and have that cart hit at least two other carts through direct or indirect actions wins! Ah....fun times after closing when there are no other cars in the parking lot

And the whole cart thing angers me too. I saw a man who was parked next to a cart corral just leave his cart there. Seriously - 10 seconds would have been all it took!

That explanation would make sense except that old people are some of the worst offenders. Old people tend to develop an exceptionalist attitude toward courtesy.

I do this with our 2007 Toyota Rav4 lol, except when I get out of the car, I'll get the cart and push it into a buggy return or just push it into the store with me.

I actually did this last night at Home Depot lol.

Heh, I drive a Caprice too. Carts can go flying without any damage when you hit them with the bumper. Modern cars have no real bumper though... 😀

I always put mine away. I seen this cart once that was moving on it's own because of a slant. It was heading STRAIGHT for this really nice, brand new car. We were just watching it go and it turned very last minute and stopped lol.

That's BMW's new Collision Avoidance Repulsive Tractor System in action!

I got nailed by one of those fucking half stroller/half carts at Home depot. Didn't notice any damage, but my passenger mirror was folded in (probably slowed the impact). I have a small ding in my front fender from when someone hit a cart between the spaces. Someone saw it happen, but the person that did it left and no one had a tag (it's almost invisible, still one should have left a note).

People put carts behind SUV's a lot here.

Most of the time the cart corral is only a space or two away. If I am in the first 5 spaces I will usually just run it back to the store.
