I used to put these away, but I felt like I was pissing on a bonfire so I just joined the masses. I used to be the cart collector guy, it was actually my favorite part of my crappy grocery store job.

you see this most often in wal marts

When my son was small I'd put him in the car before getting the groceries so I didn't want to stray too far away, leaving him alone in the car. Now I usually return the carts to their appropriate spots.

Yeah, the only time I don't do it is when I've got the baby and the weather is bad. No good way to do it. Keep the baby in the bad weather and put the cart up or leave the baby unattended in the car? Can't do either.

Lazy, worthless human beings. I usually grab a cart from the lot on my way in so I don't create any work for anyone. When I leave I leave it in the appropriate place. I wish more stores had the carts that you have to pay to use, then you get your money back when you return it (like at the airport)

This is one reason why I love Aldi's.

The 25 cent deposit to get a cart means that usually, there are 0 carts in the parking lot.

Why do I need a quarter to use a shopping cart at ALDI?

At ALDI, we cut costs every way we can to keep prices low. Our shopping cart deposit system is a good example. You insert a quarter to release a cart. When you return the cart, you get your quarter back. This system cuts down on the labor of collecting carts left in the parking lot, damage to cars, and we pass the savings on to you.

The price should be 5-10 bucks for some of the lazy asses though. :)

At Costco I stash my cart with a collection of stray carts. To be fair, it was cold and winter, and I pushed it in hard into the rear of another cart, so it shouldn't have gone anywhere.

And where was that collection of stray carts? There aren't very many places they can be in a parking lot - in the cart corral, in a lane, in a spot, or on a raised divider. All but the cart corral and the raised divider inconvenience other shoppers. Don't be a wus, push your cart back to where it belongs. Honestly, how far is it? 40 feet? Is that going to kill you?

I actually don't mind parking next to a cart return - it's less likely for someone to abandon a cart that close to the cart return, therefore less likely my vehicle will be damaged by a stray cart.

Also, not shopping at WalMart reduces the chance of damage even more.

No, it's just common courtesy dipweed. Shopping cart incidents are the #1 costing accident type at Wal-mart. I do my part to prevent my car from being hit by one. Karma is a b1tch.

They had that here about 10 years ago but most store went away from that as it was bad PR. Also people left the carts around either way because it's only 25c

common courtesy can kiss my ass. I am not going out of my way to put it back. It's not my job and not my responsibility to put it back. That is reason why stores have people patrolling parking lot and collecting the shopping carts.

if you push it to the side or something, that's one thing, but it really annoys me when someone leaves them in the middle of a parking space in a crowded lot.
