Permanent damage? My wrists

TridenT

Lifer
On May 30th 08 I broke a bone in my left wrist and sprang my right really bad... My left wrist still hurts when I do push ups and it never did before. My right doesn't hurt but it makes a snapping/cracking or my arm does. It never did this before and... well, am I going to have to live with snapping all my life? Is everything not healed? It should be fully healed by now, yes? It seems it is not, any advice? My diet doesn't really help the matter. Probably should change that.

You really have to give some info on your pain level on a scale of 1-10, tell us about your physical therapy, doctor prognosis, etc.

Pain isn't serious. It just hurts when I think it shouldn't. I shouldn't be feeling anything in that wrist if my other doesn't feel pain from this. It's usually very timid.

I don't really know about the rest other than my doctor said I am fine, in August. I think he said to not do anything for the next 6-8 weeks with it because it still needed a tiny bit of healin'. I haven't done anything and well.. I want it to be healed so I can actually workout.

Unless you can link to your X-rays I don't think we're going to be much help. My advice is get used to it, this is what happens as we all get older. The injuries pile up 🙁

Wait, so you didn't go to physical therapy for this? That is going to be your problem. You need to talk with your doctor and see if you can get a prescription for PT. You don't just go from being broken to doing what you used to do. PT will wean you into that.

:-/ I was just put in a cast and then told to use this other wrist thing when I got out of the cast. That was about it...

Yeah, that's not going to be sufficient. You're going to need to go to the doctor or talk to him on the phone and get a referral to see a physical therapist. They will help you out with exercises and such to help you strengthen your weakened wrists/fingers/forearms. It will take some time, but it'll definitely be worth it and the pain will slowly go away. Sorry to hear that you didn't know about this 🙁 However, this will fix your problem in time hopefully.
