I usually take 10 minutes to quickly eat whatever I have. But the phone always ring and so it's more like eat 2 minutes, leave the food, and then eat another 2 minutes.

In China, if you work for the government, you get an hour lunch break, and an hour afternoon nap time. It's insane.

lol, in China, if you don't work for the govt, you work hardcore hours. My dad heads up a section in Nortel's Beijing office, and he says the guys under him often pull 10, 12+ hour days to get all the stuff done. I guess it's like if you don't work hard, there's plenty of other willing people to replace you.

Even in fast food places (like KFC or McDonald's), the service is excellent. The cashiers are polite, and they speak clearly (rarely found in immigrant driven US shops...). They have people walking around to find a seat for you if it's crowded (big room) & clean up after you're done eating.

You even get service at ice cream parlours (hagen daaz, for example). All because labor is cheap (minimum wage is $600RMB a month...that works out to about $75USD), so companies can hire lots of people and not give a d*mn.

Pay in fast food is relatively good within China, so the work atitude is better. I didn't know about the insane hours in factories though...

12-16 hours a day, or more...depending on 1) how nice the employer is, and 2) how well the employer is doing. My uncle owns a shoe factory. He pays maybe 800RMB a month, but he provides 3 meals a day & housing...They work 14ish hour days, iirc.

Depends...if I go alone sometimes 30-45 mins. If I'm running errands on lunch then definitely at least the full hour. Going to eat with bosses is 1-1.5 hours. If we go have margaritas on Friday then damned near 2 hrs.

100 minutes of lunch. What I do is take my 10 minute breaks each hour, and combine them up to have my standard non-paid hour lunch plus 40 minutes. Since I never get a chance to take a break, I deserve those break minutes. After lunch, I take 20 minute breaks every 2 hours.

I try to take an hour but heck, it's hard to travel somewhere and then eat then travel back in that time. So, I don't feel guilty as long as I am back within 2 hours. Then there are the days that I don't eat at all and work for 14hours so it balances out eventually.

I could easily work through lunch every day, but I try to make myself take 45 mins to and hour a day just to keep myself a bit more sane.

Sometimes as little as 15 minutes, but other times as long as 1.5 hours. It depends primarily on whether or not I'm eating with a friend, running errands, etc.

30 minutes unpaid.

Its suck to be honest, if you stay in bring something that doesn?t require a microwave or toaster, otherwise you wait in line and waste 10 minutes. And if you go out to buy something to eat you waste 15 so you have to rush to get back and eat or eat fast and then drive back.

Except when you work through lunch and don't get paid for it.

Depends. Sometimes I eat while I work, so like 2-3 minutes considering the slowdown in work. Sometimes upwards of 2 hours.
