Cats may not hunt until they've seen some other cat do it.

Our indoor cat that transitioned used to follow around another cat and learned form him, it was cool to watch, he's actually the best hunter now. I'd prefer he not hunt, but that's kind of hard to stop.

THIS.

If it was just the dead birds, I could live with that. It's survival of the fittest.

There's the cats that for whatever reason decide your yard is a far better place to get it on with the other cats than yards that any of the cats "belong" to. There's nothing I love more than getting woken up in the middle of the night by two (or more) cats doing it outside my windows when I don't own any cats.

Have a convertible but not a garage? Cats call that a super sized scratching post.

Have patio furniture? More scratching posts and sometimes a litter box as well.

So, yeah. A giant middle finger to "outdoor" cat "owners". They damage my property, but somehow in the magical world of cat "ownership", that's not the owners problem because they are "just being cats" and since there's more than one, it's not like you can prove WHICH outdoor cat it is. They're lucky I stop at airsoft guns to run them off.

Bingo!!! When I was younger I just shot them, now I live trap them and deliver them to an SPCA on the other side of town. They don't come back. If you have an outdoor cat not only are you a terrible pet owner you are a terrible neighbor. You should consider an outdoor car disposable, which is disgusting in itself, I take very good care of all my pets ....but I have never let one roam the neighborhood

Well, that is absolutely reprehensible. I can't believe you would even admit to doing something so vile and disturbing quite frankly.

You encouraged your cat to undergo gender-reassignment surgery? What is this world coming to?! Are the libs going to cram this kind of nonsense down out throats!!!????

And there is my new term for the day.
I've never seen it written before. Got me to look up the derivation...

Cisgender has its origin in the Latin-derived prefix cis-, meaning "on this side of", which is an antonym for the Latin-derived prefix trans-, meaning "across from" or "on the other side of". This usage can be seen in the cis–trans distinction in chemistry, the cis–trans or complementation test in genetics, in Ciscaucasia (from the Russian perspective) and in the ancient Roman term Cisalpine Gaul (i.e., "Gaul on this side of the Alps"). In the case of gender, cis- is used to refer to the alignment of gender identity with assigned sex.[5]

I did the same thing. Google gives this:

cis·gen·der
sisˈjendər/
adjective
  1. denoting or relating to a person whose self-identity conforms with the gender that corresponds to their biological sex; not transgender.
"this newfound attention to the plight of black trans folks by primarily cisgender allies is timely and necessary"

Just saw one of the neighborhood cats chase a squirrel up a tree. He got about 6' up, but didn't get a squirrel. Squirrel's still barking about it :^D

First thing I did for the big stray gray was Advantage II treatment & stuff for ear mites. Then I placed a nice sturdy break away collar on him with two large bells.

The birds hear him from a mile away :)

Also, my neighbor has two cats that basically roam the neighborhood 24/7 and can be a bit of a bother. No collars, I would be shocked if they have been vetted. My new guy is getting vetted & neutered. If he is not able to live inside he will be protected from sickness & not able to increase the feral cat population.

This is a nice cat, someone loved him once, it's a shame they didn't love him enough to neuter him.

Years ago my mother had a cat that disappeared for a couple of days on the morning that he was supposed to be fixed.

Did he come back? I remember our cats going days at a time before we say them again. Probably had another family on the other side of town.

We live in a small town and a neighborhood where everybody knows everybody so our big guy has the run of our immediate area. He wanders about four houses down either way and the same across the street. There are no other cats in that area so that's 'his turf' and he pretty much sticks to that. We have a smaller male that is just getting introduced to outside after calling it off last year because he kept wandering off. Now he's two and a half years old and seeming to like staying around the house like his roomie does.

All of my past cats (many over the decades) have been outdoor and only one ever disappeared. I can see him any time I want because an old couple who are neighbors of ours 'adopted' him because they thought he was a stray and they wanted a cat. Freddy seemed happy to be there (and he still comes to visit us) and since he waltzed into our lives a couple of years earlier we let him waltz his way over to our neighbors to be spoiled rotten.

He still get treats and scritches on his ears when he stops by. :)

Why not? I'm honest, I don't hide things. I don't like to kill anything anymore but I still don't want you stupid cat shitting or pissing in one of my classic cars IN MY GARAGE!! Yes, It has happened. The one I caught crapping in my fastback I shot on the spot. It's my property. Keep your cat on yours, if you don't your the douchebag, not me. They also climb on, slide down, and scratch up $20K plus paint jobs on nice cars......but for some reason I'm not allowed to EXPECT your cat to stay out of my garage and off my property yet you think your cat should have the run of the neighborhood to do as it pleases. Hmm....maybe I should go back to just shooting them.

A friend doesn't want her cats to get hit by a car or eat the birds so the screened porch is as far outside as they get.

I dunno, if I actually could afford the cars you listed they probably would not be sitting in a garage a cat could just walk into to begin with.

Rebuilding cars in a pole barn ?

We've got huge Norway rats here and they'll come in your garage to nest if given the chance. Between cats I had one of them get into our Mustang, chew up a back seat and crap all over the floor (car was stored & covered w/ a window slightly open under the cover). I had to replace the carpet and reupholster the rear seats.

With our cats don't have that problem.

Not all barn cats are equal.

Depends on how they are treated, like I mentioned before, both of our current cats started out in a barn.

If you just throw a cat in a barn and not provide for it on at least a basic level they would be more or less feral cats.

One of my female cousins growing up had all the cats in their barn named and made sure they were fed every day and basically spoiled them rotten. They did not have rodent problems and they stayed near the barn for the most part.

But they were barn cats and some came and went.

I know something like "feral" cats allegedly exist, there are plenty of free roaming cats here in this little town who hang out behind the dumpsters. They seem to be doing relatively well and some people even feed them.

When our cats were still allowed to "roam free", that is down in the apt complex area and outside, in a say, 50m area from the house, they literally spent 80% of their time out there. Saying that "feral" cats are not necessarily "feral" cats, but simply normal cats who just happen to like being outside. I hate the idea that some people think they can just take cats they see on the streets, or doing worse, since they ASSUME it's "feral" cats. As said earlier, cats are not like us who are fine sitting on a computer all day long. Them being outside doesn't mean they're "free game".
