Or is the spam finding ways to get around it now?

I get a lot of spam but up until about a week ago the spam filter would flag about 99% of it. Now I get 10 to 20 pieces of blantant spam a day in my inbox.
Is anyone else having this problem?

Well my email address is out there in a lot of places. It just seems odd that while my total amount of spam has not gone up, the spam filter has been allowing more pieces though than normal.
i.e. I usually get 50 to 60 pieces of spam a day. It used to be that about 1 or 2 pieces every few days would make it to my inbox. For the past week or so it has been 10 to 20 pieces a day make it into the inbox.
And they seem to be a mix of image ones and non-image ones.

Well it may be just an issue I am seeing. I just wasn't sure if Google had changed their spam filter settings.

for a company as innovative as google they cant give me a little more flexibility with the gdamn filter settings? for example,. filter all mail that contain *.gif attachments
 
No, I find the spam filter to be excellent. Maybe once a week an email gets through to my inbox. I wish they would improve the overall "master" spam filter though so I don't have to purge 100 emails from my spam box every day.
 
my friends used my gmail account on a lot of those sites that you just KNOW will hand out spam... will my spam folder tends to have a double digit number at the end of every day (i empty it numerous times per day, with each time typically flushing 2-10 pieces of spam)... and occasionally I will get mail that slips the filter, but as I said, receiving possible upwards of 20+ a day and a handful or less per week that slip through seems reasonable to me. some weeks get more, some weeks get less. i stated the average. 😉
 
I get tons of spam to my gmail acct, but it all lands in the spam box. Rarely, if ever, get spam in the inbox.
 
No problems so far. I do get about 50-100 spam e-mails a day to my gmail account, but 99% of them are sorted properly to the spam folder.

Gmail has one of the best spam filters I have ever seen
 
All spam used to be put in my 'spam' box, but within the last month or so, about 5/day have been getting into my inbox.
 
I've seen a small increase, but nothing major. I get one or two a week I think. However, my spam folder has a couple thousand messages. Crazy!

There that jerk at work that everyone hates, some helpdesk kid decides to mess with him by going into his gmail account's spam filter, select all and click not spam.

 
No it hasn't gone to crap. I've had my account with them since they started offering the service. One of the first to start using it. In that amount of time I think I have gotten maybe 5 pieces that have gotten through. It catches everything else.
 
I've had no problem. Gmail even filters out the Japanese spam that I get >_> (that's what I get for having aikouka at gmail dot com).
