Maybe you should move out of CousinWife, TX and quit worrying about what your neighbors are up to on any given day. Your threads are like some perverse reality TV show, The Real Poor Poeple of Jasper Texas.

...and you bitch and bitch and bitch about a $2500 bill for a medical procedure that your wife needs but HOOO HA LOOKIT THESE GUNS I BEEN A BUYIN!

My wife and I help that family in the OP from time to time, but mostly with food, gas money,,,, small stuff like that. I think its coming to the point where our help is going to have to be cut off.

And I'm sure this loser accepts your help and probably isn't very grateful for it either. Sometimes, we want to help others but in the process, we unintentionally become enablers. Cutting them off will help them in the long-run.

You know what grinds my gears?

I work like 50 hours a week and my wife goes and gets pregnant from me and any day now out will come that baby and she gets A WHOLE YEAR OFF PAID (about 60% of working income) from my government. She'd rather be taken care of our son than working! That bitch.

You know what's even worse? Our medical bills will be ZERO DOLLARS!

oh, wait, no, I'm actually really stoked on this.

Thanks USA, you make me really happy to be Canadian

ps. I'm just joking around. I do feel bad for the shit show you guys have to put up with with no real solutions in sight :\

fuck that shit, I don't want my tax dollars subsidizing breeders overpopulating the world.

overall, I'm usually pretty favorably disposed to stuff like welfare, but I've been getting a little judge-y lately -- my best friend has been unemployed since July and she's turned down at least 2 job offers I'm aware of because they paid less than she's "earning" collecting unemployment.

Another family my wife and I know, they have been receiving food stamps and medicaid for around 20, maybe as long as 22, 23 years.

The dad works for a local small business making $10 an hour, the mom does not work, and they have like 5 or 6 kids. The oldest kid is around 24 or 25, the youngest was born about 2 years ago.

It seems to me that our tax dollars are subsidizing low income people who have kids to stay on the system.

And now, one of the older girls, who is around 17 years old is knocked up, not married and a high school drop out.

I don't think all the unemployed young people right now don't have a job necessarily because they're all lazy. I mean, in the past young people entering the work force would get their starts flipping burgers in Mcdonalds, or doing other dull work beneath them to get their first real work experience. These days it seems their parents are getting laid off with their jobs moved to China or some crap. These days their parents and others from the last generation are having such a hard time finding a job of comparable worth to what they had that now many of them are taking those horrid Mcdonalds jobs because the jobs they had are disappearing. For the next generation, it can now be difficult getting a job flipping burgers if they wanted to, if that makes any sense. It's as though millions of Americans are all downgrading down a notch with their careers with those at the bottom with few ways to go.

Well in Canada you do have to work like 400 or 600 hours or something to be eligible for 1 year maternity leave. So it's not ever lasting. Plus a little bit of money is taken off everybodies check as EI premiums (EI = Employment Insurance, I think you guys call it UI?). EI is what pays maternity as well.
