Great, now he changed the whole damn thing and none of our replies make sense. Thanks OP ya douche!

Considering the majority of the people posting replies either did not read the whole opening post, or lack an ability for abstract thought, so something needed to be done.

Once again, we had a case of people reading the title, and then jumping to a conclusion "before" they read anything else.

I'm pretty sure everyone read it and everyone didn't see the relation between two unconnected events.

My assumption would be those older kids could have just graduated high school and are a week or 2 away from starting college, or be underclassmen in college. They also could have recently completed internships for this summer (I know in my office the interns finished last week). Maybe they were chaperoning there younger siblings/friends/neighbors to the bus stop. Making assumptions on their job situation could be premature.

That said, there has been a culture of complacency growing within the youth. My initial thought is that college is not nearly structured enough. Students go to class for 10-15 hours per week, with the rest of their time open at their disposal. I've always believed that greater structure can motivate students, as they may realize achievements they didn't think they were capable of. Instead, college fosters laziness (aka complacency), students become devoid of ambition, and thus place the burden on others.

In terms of young buyers within the real estate market, the only skill really needed is saving money. Do you think young Americans 18-25 are good savers?

Texashiker,

Your opening statement about the teenagers "not working at 7:15 am" flowed straight into your rant about people who mooch off the system. To EVERYONE ELSE, there was only one way to interpret it. Your OP made no sense with regard to how you tried to explain it.

My experience is that if you see any young people walking around the streets before 9am then those are people doing something with their lives. Most young people I know that are going nowhere in life don't get out of bed before noon.

Those types of people are parasites on society, and its one of the many reasons this nation is going broke.

At the very least, make an effort to get a skill or education so your family does not receive benefits.

No it's not. MEDICARE and the military budget are what's making us go broke. Jesus christ you are stupid. Unemployment benefits are not a major cost for the federal government.

I had the same job from 17 to 24 and then decided to try something different. Now it's not that I don't want to work, it's just harder and harder to find a job.

Extended periods of unemployment also make you realize what a sucker you are working a 9 to 5 day after day.

Did you ever see the movie Pulp Fiction?

Sometimes you have to put the pieces together for yourself.

yes. but he did it in a way people understand. your post? fuck if we know. how about you leave crap like that to people that can do it so we understand?

Sometimes I like to eat cereal in the morning and sometimes I have eggs instead. Rarely, I'll have oatmeal if I feel like I'm not going to have lunch for a while so that it tides me over until I do.

I see posts like this in threads all the time... I don't get them?

Wait I thought all US citizens were entitled to like 36 or 40 months of welfare 'ever'? Is OP correct that working 'regenerates' the pool you can draw from or am I thinking of a different service?

So you know one worthless crackhead with kids and somehow he is representative of everyone out there.

Solid reasoning, OP.

:hmm: I did not realise that, so do you guys have a different system for the long term unemployed or for those who can't find work for medical reasons?

I thought all citizens were allotted a specific length of time they could be on welfare, no matter the circumstances. I believe it is a different service than disability/medical/survivor compensation which is based on the severity of the situation and can last much longer.

mmmm. Maple and brown sugar with an extra spoonfull of sugar and just enough milk to make everything moist.

Anyone else want oatmeal?

On a side note:

The fall semester started yesterday. I scoped out a parking garage by my class (only take one class in school, rest online, not worth a parking pass) on friday. Go to park on monday, garage is closed. WTF?

I did bring my lunch though. It was good, ham and cheese on whole wheat.

I like whole wheat. And Skittles.

You are allowed to be on welfare for a predetermined consecutive amount of time , like 18 months and then are not eligible for another 6 months - year, where you can apply again. Working doesn't change the amount of time.
