Isn't it just one person's comfort level vs. another's? Seems like you would be selfish for saying no and preventing the other person from being comfortable. The person reclining back isn't doing anything out of the ordinary, it's part of the function of the chair. It's not like some guy next to you is lifting up the arm rest to spill his fatass over into your seat or anything.

This. My knees rest against the back of the seats normally, so they can try to recline all they want and it's not happening. Planes were not built for tall people. It sucks.

As long as they recline slowly and gently, otherwise I consider them rude, but I wouldn't expect them to ask me first. If it bothers you that much you'll have to pay extra and step up to business class.
